Yesterday I went to the orthopaedic doctor to find out the results of my MRI that I had last week on my hip. The good news is they didn't find anything wrong with the muscles/ligaments/tendons and what they initially thought the problem was...it isn't! So I'm thrilled about that! I'm still not out of the water yet. I have to go to physical therapy for a month then back to my doctor to see if he thinks the problem, whatever it is, has improved or worsened and at that point he will decide a definite yes or no on sugery and I'm nervous out of my mind!
That all was good news. I'm happy with that.
However...
They found a ruptured cyst on my right ovary in my MRI. I've been reading a little about them on the internet this morning and they seem relatively harmless but this part of the article is what is really bothering me.
"A ruptured ovarian cyst CAN have potentially life-threatening complications, such as hemorrhage and infection. If you feel you may have an ovarian cyst, it is important to have your symptoms identified as soon as possible to avoid a critical emergency situation."
But this really eases my one main concern.
"Most cysts are not cancerous (benign) and have a very low risk of turning into cancer. The guidelines say the risk of developing cancer is very low if you have small cysts on one ovary (less than 5 cm wide). More than half these cysts will disappear on their own within 3 months unless ruptured then they may give cause for medical attention."
So I'm on the fence. I shouldn't worry but at the same time I do have a little something to worry about. I'm staying neutral til I go to the doctor this afternoon and hear it from her mouth that I shoudn't worry.
This has been a long drawn out entry for nothing. Rambling, mostly but I needed to get it out and get it out I did.
