Author's Notes: Second part of the series leading up to
Afterward. First part is
here. Slightly AU. Anakin was not burned beyond recognition on Mustafar, he's still pretty.
Whatever Obi-Wan had been prepared for, it was not this. He was Force-bound and roughly ushered into the small room he had been renting. All his nerves were on edge because he had no idea what to expect from his captor.
Anakin.
He didn't struggle or try to escape. Instead, he focused his attention on Anakin, trying to determine his motives. Anakin's command of the Force was extraordinary as usual, as he set Obi-Wan on the floor gently. The Jedi Master was turned around to face the door, and for the first time in five years, he saw his former apprentice.

Vader studied Obi-Wan for long moments, saying nothing. He was surprised to find he didn't look that different, though he wasn't sure what he'd been expecting.
Obi-Wan was older, of course, and his hair was showing more gray. The fine lines on his face were slightly more marked, but otherwise he was the same man Anakin Skywalker had known.
Vader knew he looked no different than he had the last time they met, and he removed the black mask he wore to hide his true identity and appear more intimidating. He watched as Obi-Wan took in his appearance, wondering how the older man saw him. Not that it mattered, because he had a plan and would not be deterred.
