"I'm sorry, Master." Anakin hung his head, shaggy hair falling across his face. He peered at Obi-Wan through his lashes, judging the older man's reaction.
"Anakin." Obi-Wan held out his arms and Anakin was there in an instant, accepting the embrace. He buried his face in Obi-Wan's neck, tears threatening to overtake him. Obi-Wan's auburn beard was scratchy against his face, but Anakin paid it no mind. He clutched at Obi-Wan, and before the older Jedi knew what was happening, a firm pair of lips was pressing against his mouth.
"So very sorry," Anakin repeated, warm breath ghosting across his partner's face. Obi-Wan could see the tear tracks running down Anakin's cheeks, and he raised a hand to wipe the damp streaks away.
"I forgive you," Obi-Wan said. "After all, you've come back to me." He allowed his lips to brush against Anakin's once more before pulling away. "Now I believe there's someone waiting for us."
Luke Skywalker paused for a moment, watching the ghostly images of his two mentors and his father appear before him. Ben and Yoda looked just as Luke had known them, but Anakin appeared healthy, unlike the wreck of a man Luke had watched die. He smiled at his sister when she appeared at his side, allowing her to lead him away. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda watched the young ones go before slowly fading away.
"We can watch over them, Anakin," Obi-Wan said, his appearance reverting to that of a newly made Jedi Master. He looked at Anakin, who once more appeared to be the young Knight that Obi-Wan had cared for so much. "And they can take care of each other."
"So will we, Master. So will we."
