Hi Everybody!

Aloha to the loverly people from the OSK/DSFG chat last night! I hope I'm not too boring for you. I don't post all that much, so not to worry about being flist spammed. :-)

Now, on to other topics.

Two weeks ago, you might remember, Manda's mom died. We had a discussion at work that these things come in threes. Turns out that one person's grandmother died, another person's wife had their child stillborn, and another person's son died. Also, the little boy that Christy's son played with died from a birth defect in his heart. That makes five. I get to claim the lucky sixth. My grandmother's older sister died this morning. It wasn't a shock; she'd been sick for a long while, and Emily's death hit me a lot harder than this has. Nobody knows anything about funeral plans yet, so we'll see how that goes. Work had better let me take off.

And speaking of Miss Emily, Manda gave me a call Wednesday night saying that she'd been cleaning out her mom's room in preparation to sell the house. She'd found a large stash of yarn, and would I like to have it? Of course I would! I figured by a big bag of yarn, she meant a shopping bag full, but I was completely mistaken. I showed up to grab it on Thursday, and it was a Hefty bag. One of the big, black 30-gallon ones. So now I have craploads of yarn, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. There were even some half-finished crochet projects in there, which I wish I could finish. I can't crochet to save my life, though, so they're either getting frogged, or cut and tossed. There is one large blue and white square that I may turn into a pillow for Manda if I can do it properly.

What I have planned so far with Miss Emily's yarn:
- stuffed block (yes, like a building block) for my cousin's baby shower on Saturday
- maybe a stuffed Jelly Baby for the baby, too
- hat for Manda
- hat for my aunt
- head scarf / hair wrap for me
- maybe Rose's arm warmers from Doomsday for me
- shawl for my mom, if there's enough of the same yarn to make it

And that leaves me with... slightly less of a crapload of yarn. That reminds me, I need to post pictures of the stuff I've finished lately. Maybe later in the week, if I remember and have the time.

knitting, rl
