I had a fantastic weekend. I went out with my roommate and good friend
j__phillips on Thursday. We ended up staying out until 3:00 in the morning! I hadn't partied like that in forever, so my 12 hour work day on Friday was kind of rough. But I stayed in Friday night, and was fully recovered by Saturday.
After work on Saturday I ran 12 miles. I was really nervous about it because of the whole foot problem, but I needed to run. And now I'm starting to think that my foot pain is mental. On my way home from work I kept thinking that it hurt and that the run was going to be a struggle. But I decided that 6 miles was better than none, and that if it was killing me after 6, I would stop. Well, 12 miles later it still didn't hurt. And it didn't hurt on Sunday or today, either. Weird.
Also, it sort of weirds me out a bit when I think about running 12 miles. Whenever I do a long run like that I look back and think, "Did I really do that?" It just doesn't seem real. I'm still adjusting to this whole "Erik the Runner" persona. I never grew up running and it still surprises me that I can whip out a 12 mile run and be fine the next day...
...Or even later that night. I got home from the run and I was pumping with energy, so Josh and I decided to go out. We first hit Beauty Bar, and then Phoenix. I was surprisingly social with strangers. It's nice to be hit on. :)
Sunday I slept IN. That was amazing. I didn't get too plastered the night before so I slept pretty well. When I woke up, there were these two HOT British guys at my apartment. (Long story - they were straight, but definitely nice to look at). It was a great start to my day. Josh, Michael and I went to brunch at Arte, which is on 73rd between Columbus and Amsterdam. It's a really great little place - kind of fancy, but not pricy. The waiter was cute, too.
Then, we came home and napped. Ha! What a lazy Sunday. After our nap, we got ready and went to a friend's rooftop barbecue in Hell's Kitchen. I had the BEST time! I even met a really cute guy and got his phone number. Seriously, this was like my social weekend. I wish every weekend could be packed with so much without being exhausting. I feel totally well rested today.
