101 Things in 1001 Days Website

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Start Date: December 8, 2007
End Date: September 4, 2010

In order to break down goals mathematically, I am pretending there are (or there actually are) 12 months in a year, 33 months in 1001 days, and 1001 days = 3 years (it is easier this way).

Family:
01. Spend an entire weekend (48 hours) with my grandmother
02. Spend quality time with my sister (just the two of us)
03. Go on a trip with my parents, or each parent individually

Health:
04. Find a new Primary Care Doc
05. Find a new dentist
06. Get my wisdom teeth removed
07. Complete all cancer related scans on time
08. Take my thyroid medicine everyday without skipping a dose
09. Continue to follow at least a 50% raw diet
10. Learn one new recipe (and make it from scratch) per month (0/33)
11. Maintain an exercise routine which, regardless of how busy I am, includes working out at least 2 days per week

Finances:
12. Pay off ¼ of my college loan
13. Create an emergency fund, which consists of at least $1k I cannot touch unless there is an “emergency”
14. Start saving for the future purchase of a house
15. Finally obtain a REAL credit card
16. 401k!
17. Save a dollar per day, spend it on whatever the fuck I want at the end of 1001 days (0/1001)

Relationships:
18. Go on at least one date per month (when single) (0/33)
19. Get back in touch with at least one friend per month (0/33)
20. Write at least one snail mail letter per month (0/33)

Giving:
21. Volunteer with at least three different organizations (0/3)
22. Get involved with / donate money and time to a cancer related charity or hospital
23. Donate food to a food bank or shelter at least once a year (0/3)
24. Go through all clothing, give away anything I haven’t worn in the past two years
25. Participate in a cancer walk / run
26. Donate hair to Locks of Love

Crafty Hobbies:
27. Knit something other than a scarf or blanket
28. Knit something in the round
29. Make an entire outfit (that I would actually wear in public) by hand
30. Hand make 50% of my gifts to other (Christmas or otherwise)
31. Sell something I’ve made by hand
32. Make a quilt (preferably with my grandmother)

Art:
33. Take at least one art studio class
34. Purchase at least one new piece of art every 6 months (0/6)
35. Finish one painting or collage (or piece of art) per month (0/33)
36. Visit at 10 museums (0/33)
37. Go to ArtScape


Music:
38. Learn to play the expensive guitar I recently purchased (or sell said guitar by the end of 1001 days)
39. Find and listen to at least one “new” band per month (0/33)
40. See at least five live shows per year (0/15)
41. Go to a show by myself

Movies:
42. See at least one non-mainstream or “independent” movie per month (0/33)
43. Rent and watch 25 of IMDBs top 250 movies (0/100)
44. Rent at least two movies I know nothing about per year (0/6)
45. Go to a movie in a theatre by myself

Other Hobbies:
46. Read at least one book (fiction or non-fiction) per month (0/33)
47. Read “Learning to Love you More” By Harrell Fletcher & Miranda July
48. Go ice skating
49. Start and maintain a garden
50. Write in a hand written journal everyday for an entire month

Gatherings:
51. Host a dinner party

Travel:
53. Obtain a passport
