I come to wish you an Unhappy Birthday!

I am in San Francisco for this 7th anniversary of my 21st birthday. To be honest, I have no complaints about how the day has gone. Last year I was taking a final, which sucked. So it is nice to have a mellow celebration. I was taken out to Indian food on Saturday by my college amigas from undergrad. Last night my friend took me out for Thai and then we went back to his loft for drinks where we then went on his roof with an amazing view and listened to cheezy 80s synth pop collection and caught up about life. I have received many calls and birthday wishes via facebook. Oh and my boyfriend got me a really cool scrabble board with black tiles to suit my gothic sensibilities. And tonight I am off to Zeitgeist for drinks for my birthday and my last night in SF.

So far turning 28 has not been so bad. And I have to say 27 was a good year for me. I finished my last year of grad school by passing my exams, went to Asia where I learned a lot about myself and the world, met many great friends, saw Morrissey play way too many times, managed to date someone long enough so they could become my boyfriend which never seems to happen. Even my lows like getting rejected by JET have not been all that bad.

I also saw the Dresden Dolls play on Sunday at the Fillmore. They really put on a great show and East Bay Ray from The Dead Kennedys came up on stage. They ended with a cover of a Leonard Cohen song. My boyfriend is seeing them tonight in L.A. so we shall compare notes of who saw the better show. I also reunited with a really interesting couchsurfer on Monday. He was someone my friend Brian hosted and he is this Irish guy really into hitchhiking. Truly fascinating person. We went for lunch and had drinks at Zeitgeist where we met up with his Slovakian friend. So yes, this trip to S.F. has been very pleasant. Unfortunately, I return to the reality of Lost Angeless tomorrow.
