If you have a WalMart credit card, pay close attention to your statements in the next month or two. This is the card that is NOT a Discover.
They are changing the billing cycle from 30 days to 23 days. This means 16 payments a year and not 12. It's a trick to charge more fees such as late fees.
I thought Congress had passed legislation to stop these kinds of practices? Is this WalMart getting in last licks before it takes effect?
You can be assured that the tiny balance I have on the card is getting paid off and I am locking it away in my safe.
It's just one more nefarious practice I've seen WalMart indulge in.
The other thing that they are doing that has ticked me off is going down to carrying only one or two brands of a certain type of item and raising the prices. Perhaps that's just in my market area, but I'm finding less and less reason to go to WalMart any more. Oh, and now all the Name Brand stuff like Paula Dean cookware, OP clothing, Better Homes & Gardens decor... I believe they are trying to compete with Target's low-cost designers, but when I go to WalMart, I want cheap and functional, not a label.
Meijers is open 24 hours, doubles coupons, and has mostly the same prices. Target doesn't have the hours, but pricing is pretty much the same. I plan my food menu according to the sales anyway. I think, WalMart, that you and I are finished.
