Wow no, I'm not against rock music either! Gosh. That would be so sad, eh?

Well, invitro fertilization isn't a national debate, I just put it in because I had been reading about it lately, and wondered what people knew about it. *shrug* It's not talked about as much I guess.

Jon Foreman is the best ever, and yes, I would call that eccentric singing. haha. I was just like, "Wait, what was that??" And kept rewinding and rewinding.

I will tell you my stand on it. Though you didn't ask. I can only see wonderful things from it. Want an example? Look at my cousin triplets. That is how they were born.

Well, here's what I think: I have nothing wrong with the (many) kids born this way. I also think this is a widely unspoken about topic and that it should be taken up by more churches. My view on it is fairly simple. I think embryos are humans. Period. I believe they need rights. I believe they are no different for you and me and are simply "little people". The problem with this belief is that it clashes with IVF because in IVF you "create" around eight embryos and implant (typically) the 3 best embryos into the mother. This creates a very high chance of twins or triplits, but it doesn't always happen that way. Well, that's all nice, but what about the "back-up" embryos? The babies that weren't chosen? They are put into a freezer (I'm not kidding) in case something goes wrong and they are usually left there forever, never given the chance to live. That is why I'm against IVF. Not because I'm a horrible person who doesn't want parents to have a chance at, well, parenthood, but because of the kids who aren't having the right to, well, ( ... )

PS Oh my word, you haaaaaave to go here:

http://www.nightlight.org/snowflakephotoalbum.htm

I almost forgot, those are pictures of kids who have been rescued from the "freezers" across the nation and put into parents who either can't have kids or who want to help the babies. It's called the "snoflake project" I think it's the best idea ever.

That is like project Sunflower that was on the show CSI!

You know, I can totally see myself doing this. I really can. I don't know why. I want to have a child of my own with my husband, but I also want nothing more than to adopt those who are already living-- and this is just another way of adopting now isn't it?

Uh! Do you know how precious that would be?? I can't think of a more Christian thing to do. Adopting kids that half the country or more doesn't even know exists. Amazing. I would love to do that too.

Me too. Seriously! And it isn't like you AREN'T their mother and you won't have that close connetion, because you carried them for 9 months.

What an experience! If the rescue-from-a-freezer thing isn't crazy enough, you will also be able to CARRY the child. Wow. What do you think it would be like to tell the child after it was born, what, exactly, went into his/her birth?

I don't know. I would most likely just state the facts. The fact that their actual parents were able to have a child and there were left over concieved eggs and I wanted a little one of my own, and picked them out specially. I am sure that I could get information on that childs parents so that tehy can be close. Maybe even name them the godparents or something. It isn't like they are bad people, they just had excess concieved eggs.

oo see i didnt really know exactly how it was done.
but with the if God didnt want you to be a mother thing. i mean it is kind of going around it, but if you end up having a baby from IVF then God DID want you to have a baby. so that brings up more technicalities and yadda yaddas. which people could turn against and use on abortion. like "i may be going around God by killing this baby, but obviously God wanted it to die if its dead" ya know?
blah, i'm not saying i agree with that last statement, btw

I don't understand the last statement-- with God wanting it to die if it is dead. That child never HAD a chance to live if you suck its brain out and the only feeling that it feels is excruciating pain until it dies.
In IVF the child has a chance to live, or to just pass through as a period for the women, and then if that doesn't work out, then you know that God doesn't want you to have a child. I don't think that is going around God wanting you to have/not have a child. That is a way to have a child, and if that doesn't work then you know.

no i mean thats if i said "i mean it is kind of going around it, but if you end up having a baby from IVF then God DID want you to have a baby. " people could turn it around and say "oh yeah i killed my baby, but it must have been God's will or it wouldn't have happened"

yes i know that, thats what i was saying

Yes! That's what I mean by more churches taking on this issue, not to take sides but to INFORM at least.

Oh, I think it's up to the indevidual when it comes to weather they think God wants them to have a child. I don't even want to pretend I know what God has for the family. I have some good friend's who did "simple IVF" and I don't know if that was something God wanted them to do or not. That's more personal. The first issue isn't. It's more black and white.

About the abortion issue. Ya, I guess it would be an issue, but a lame issue non the less. You can't help not being able to have kids. It's devine. You CHOSE to kill your kid, God had nothing to do with it. (i know you aren't for abortion, I'm just defending it...)
