EVERYONE BUT ME GETS TO GO TO FREAKIN COMIC CON!
And when I say everyone I mean bloody everyone.
The Westboro Baptist Church is pickiting the con! THEY DON'T EVEN LIKE COMICS! I would cut off a damn arm to get Rucka to sign one of my Batwoman issues and they're GOING TO BE THERE?!
All ridiculousness aside, this is the blurb from their abhorant website (I have to go boil my browser now)
WBC to picket Comic Con 2010 at the San Diego Convention Center. Are you kidding?! If these people would spend even some of the energy that they spend on these comic books, reading the Bible, well no high hopes here. They have turned comic book characters into idols, and worship them they do! Isaiah 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: 9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not. It is time to put away the silly vanities and turn to God like you mean it. The destruction of this nation is imminent - so start calling on Batman and Superman now, see if they can pull you from the mess that you have created with all your silly idolatry.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I am agnostic to the point of athiesm. Outside of their general loathing of my beloved hobby, there is a bigger issue here. If you've ever read about/heard of/ or had the unfortunate oppertunity to actually deal with these people (I use that term losely) you know how their protests go.
There are horrible anti-semetic, anti-American, anti-Military and of course homophobic signs and chants. They take their children (CHILDREN!) and teach them these horrible ideas.
I've watched two documentaries on the subject, I have a morbid interest in this cult, and am pissed.
How dare these bastards invade MY hallowed ground?!
San Diego Comic Con is Mecca for comic nerds, damnit!
Swear to God...All the wonderful groups in the world suffer horrible losses and attacks and whatnot and yet this cult continues to thrive? There are somethings in the world that are just not right. This is one of those things.
I hope the nerds rise up and smite those bastards.
Stand up con-goers and put those protesting freaks in their place. Do it for the gays, do it for the men and women in the military...do it for Truth, Justice and the American Way.
