so this is the run down...
Two weeks ago the cook at my work, Joseph and I had a dispute over a bowl of soup. He threw the soup at me, swore at me and yelled at me. Since then he and I have not spoken.
I was afraid that I was over-reacting so I did not tell me boss. Joseph is our 'chef' and his with Jacklin is our other cook. I figured if it came down to it who would the boss sacrifice: 2 cooks or 1 server. 1 server, obviously.
So today Joseph was cooking, his wife was serving. My first table ordered Sweet Potato fingerlings, half of the order was burnt so I asked Joseph "can I have a few more fingerlings, a lot of these are burnt" to which he grabed the bowl, threw it at the wall and told me to fuck off. I said something allong the lines of "Joseph I just needed a few replaced" and he continued to tell me to go fuck myself. I can't argue or yell to save my life so I was all "this is uncalled for... you're being very disrespectful... I don't deserve to be talked to that way..." so his wife chimes in "Rachel, just save yoru breath"
I told them both that I shouldn't have to save my breath and bite my tounge and put up with this at work.
Joseph tells me again to shut up, fuck you, and go to hell.
So I walked out.
I'm really happy with the way I handled the situation. I didn't raise my voice, I didn't curse or place blame... I just spoke up for myself.
I called Sasha my owner and apologized for not letting her know the fisrt time this happened. She's going to talk to them and get their side,I would love to hear what he has to say "I burnt the food, so I threw stuff at her". He's frightening. When someone starts throwing shit and yelling in a kitchen full of knives and oither 'weapons' yes, I do get scared. He's threatening me.
He is ussually at the restaurant all day, while his wife works he sists in the kitchen reading. But now I' will be on straight days (working with her) and he is not allowed to come in before his shift.
But really I only have 2 weeks left of this bullshit.
