As many of you know that my birthday is Dec13th . . . right in the middle of Christmas season. Everyone asks me what I want for my birthday . . . I usually don’t say much, and here is why: every time I for something that I really want something always goes horribly wrong.
When my grandma Pat was alive all I wanted for my birthday was to take everyone out for a nice dinner as she didn’t get to go out much. The first year I wanted this, my uncle’s car was too small. The second year my uncle spend most of his money on gambling and I had to use my birthday money to buy groceries. The third year my uncle claimed that he was afraid to take the car too far as he was having either break or engine problems. Last year my grandma passed away in November so I never go the big family dinner. It was a small disappointment, but it was something small I wanted . . . I see everyone else taking their family out, is my family that dysfunctional that we couldn’t go out for my birthday?
There is a place several cities away (about 20 miles or so) that is called Dave N Busters. It’s like a Chucky Cheese for adults. . . It has a bar, ok food, but a huge arcade of games. I have been there a few times for a few parties for clubs I was in during college. I don’t drink in public (I hate the bar and club scene), but I thought it would be fun to have a small dinner and play some games: it was15 dollars for a dinner and tokens. However Tom and I knew that if we invited family or friends we would have to pay their way as well. Between Christmas, bills, and any other expense it would be really expensive.
It just ticks me off when people ask me what I want for my birthday, but then they bitch when I say “I don’t know.” Why tell someone what I want when I know it will only be cancelled or get fucked up? My damn birthday is too close to Christmas. . . (Thanks mom and dad for fucking in March.)
I want lots of local friends to set up a huge surprise party with lots of catered food and presents and a huge cake. However most of my friends are out of state, married, with kids, immature, or they closer to my brother or boyfriend. I made a list of both serious gifts and funny gifts.
http://rebekah1213.livejournal.com/126844.html The thing is most of the time is I am happy with a new notebook, bic pen, can of Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Sunkist, or Mountain Dew. (I also like chocolate and Swedish fish.) It isn’t hard to please me.
(Tom did take me out to to one of the grills where they cook at your table, made me dinner and gave me a massage. I did have a nice birthday. However I was more focus on the all of the errands of the holiday than my birthday this year.)
