ever closer

The electrician was here Monday and he wired a bunch of the undercabinet kitchen lights. He said he's be back tonight to finish up, but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully he'll be done sometime this weekend.

I spray-painted my silver bread box KitchenAid red today. I couldn't find a bread box I liked at a decent price. My bread box is huge, which I like, and if I screw it up I can find another one at a garage sale for a couple of bucks. So far it looks great.

I've been loading the kitchen for the past couple of days. I might install the quarter round on the flooring tonight, but I can't install it around the dishwasher until it is installed.

It's finally starting to come together. Having the food out of the dining room and in the kitchen is starting to make the whole project seem real.

The countertop is set to be installed Wednesday. As in, less than a week. There's lots to do between now and then, but I'm starting to get excited.

I went to Lowe's yesterday to get paint for my porch and I ran into Deborah. She's the one who answered all of my kitchen flooring questions. She explained to me, step-by-step, exactly how to install it. We didn't even use a book, and we didn't have to consult anything. Except for one board that I mis-cut, our installation was flawless, and I told her as much.

She answered some of my tile questions and directed me toward materials that were better suited to my project. I have to put up backerboard, but it will make installation easier and will help prevent water leakage. Naturally I'm all into that these days.

She was so nice and patient with me. I hope Lowe's knows what they have--she is just wonderful.

Does anybody read this?
