Well, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.
The countertop guy was out yesterday to template the countertop. He said there should be no crazy installation problems (no extra fees). He was very nice and funny.
I called the fabricators and asked for a timeline. Since I overpaid for my countertop (Sean the template guy got a much more accurate measurement) then there was no delay in getting started. It still might take 3 weeks, but we're hoping for less. Installation is June 1 at the very latest. Tile will only take a couple of days after that, so it should go pretty quickly after that.
It turns out I'll need a lot less tile than I bought, which is good because that's one receipt I didn't lose. I'll be able to return quite a bit of tile materials (which is awesome, because I was overbudget on that project).
I made out my project calendar and hopefully will bust through a lot of it this week while Bill is off. The house is really a mess, and it's driving me nuts. We're going to cut down on a lot of clutter and get rid of a bunch of clothes this weekend.
I had an electrician out to give me a bid for the undercabinet lighting. "I really wish you had called me before you drywalled," he said. He was right, but I explained to him that this remodel wasn't voluntary, and that I didn't have the whole project in focus while I was muddling through it. He was still very nice and his quote was over my budget, but he's letting me pay in installments. He's also going to install the ceiling fan that Bill keeps avoiding. I told Bill he had to work the overtime to pay for it all, and he is. Poor guy.
Today is cleaning bathrooms and laundry. I also have to plan a cheap family night.
This will be so much better when it's done. I could just cry today.
