undycat happened to mention CONvergence, so I looked it up. As it happens, I'm not terribly interested in any of the featured guests this year, nor does it fall on a weekend that is likely to be a convenient time to arrange to be in Minnesota. But that got me thinking: I haven't been to a con in years, and I'm sure there are geeks in Seattle! Lo and behold, there are! I've just missed this year's convention, but some of next year's info is already available. The theme for 2008 is "Bell, Book and Dragon" and the Special Guest is Naomi Novik. This makes me very happy indeed. I thoroughly enjoy the Temeraire series, and am eagerly awaiting the next installment, which comes out this fall. I picked up His Majesty's Dragon, and was sold when I saw that Anne McCaffrey, of all people, called it an innovative use of dragons.
