Hopefully for real this time I'll have a flat! I saw a couple today that I really liked. I'll know by tomorrow if I have it- I'm supposed to meet the other flatmate in the afternoon. My flatmates will be two Brazilians, 23 and 26, sister and brother. Hopefully I don't get caught in any sibling rivalries... heh. It was a really nice flat with a large living room, which was something I really wanted. It needs some touch ups but it will be fine. My share of the rent will be 300 euro/month, not including utilities. The flat is located in Goya, so I'd just take the metro line 2 to Sol or bus C1 to Atocha to take the cercania to Getafe. Also I'd be a five minute walk away from Retiro.
Life at the hostel has been good.... I've made a few friends here- others who are staying at the hostel until they find a flat. So I'm enjoying myself overall, despite the frustration of searching for a flat these past couple weeks.
I went to my appointment on Monday to renew my NIE. Let me just give some advice to everyone- PHOTOCOPY EVERY SINGLE DOCUMENT YOU HAVE. Including passport and NIE. At least 2 copies.
I visited my school on Friday last week. I met my bilingual coordinator, Angel, who seemed nice. I found out that this is the school's first year in the bilingual program (the one I was at last year was in their second year). I'll be working Monday-Thursday, from 9-12:30 and 2:30-3:14. I'll be working mostly with the first grade (6 years).
Today I was with a couple friends at a grocery store and a woman came up to us, asking if one of us could give private lessons to her daughter. So I'm pretty impressed that just from speaking English in a grocery story, I'm already getting clases particulares!!!
Well back to hostel life... tonight is totally booked, so I'm sleeping on the couch in the common room.... not sure how much sleep I'll actually be getting then!!!!
