Singer/Songwriter

Today was a great day at school. I was in for Ms. Chinn (the music teacher) in the morning. The first grades at first period just watched a video, but i wish I could have played music or talked about music with them. But still it was cool being in the music room. (i feel like i'm writing like a first grader...could be cause i'm surrounded by them now) Then a guy named Durdin Smith (I'll have to look him up on All Music) came in. He is a singer/songwriter. We talked a bit, simple conversation blah blah blah. Most of the 5th grade was in the music class today since there was this special guest. I met the art teacher and she seems nice, I hope to sub for her soon. He talked about being a musicians and it being his job etc etc. Then he wrote a song with the kids. It was pretty silly, but really funny. "I love everything about me" or something "I like bananans...etc etc" After they wrote the song and practiced it he recorded them singing it (on a NEUMANN U87!!!!! SHIT!!!!) I was like...holy shit man...that's a mic you've got there Mr. Singer Songwriter. I ate school pizza (which wasn't half bad) and did 1st grade next. It was a cool afternoon. We played kickball and no one died (a joke...cause i'm trying not to take it all to seriously).

on a second and semi soap box rant... I found out that teachers have to PAY for copies made over their "quota"! First of all... why is there a quota in the first place! Is it THAT DAMN EXPENSIVE to pay for paper for our DAMN CHILDRENS EDUCATION!!!! SHIT! Secondly...We pay (a state school) Mac Brown 2.5 MILLION a year! You'd think the state could scrap the money to buy some more paper (or start a more extensive recycling program in schools)!!!! They also pay for most of their classroom supplies! I dissappointed!
