Wake Rebecca up when December ends...

I hate that I let all of November slip by without updating this journal, but it was a busy month for me. A brief recap of some of the unpleasantness:

~ My car was way overdue for an oil change, and I decided to have some work that I'd gotten a recall notice about done at the same time. It turned out to be more stressful that I would've liked. The nice waiting-on-service lounge at the car dealership was supposed to be equipped with Wifi, so I'd brought along my laptop to review fanfictions while I waited. Except that the Wifi was out! And nobody I spoke to could do anything about getting it back up. I eventually had to run across multiple lanes of traffic on a busy street to get to the Popeye's, which did provide Wifi. All much too early in the morning on a freezing-cold Saturday!

~ And on another freezing-cold Saturday, Sara and I had to take Tovah back to the vet for a checkup. She now needs a high dose of her hyperthyroid medication. She'd been taking half a pill dissolved in milk mostly pretty willingly, but when we tried to give her a whole pill, she absolutely refused. Luckily, the vet was able to get us her medication in eardrop form, and by comparison, giving her that has been a breeze! She startles a little because it's cold, but she doesn't hiss or swat or yowl or try to run away.

~ Cold weather always makes my asthma worse, and one cold night, I let my fast-acting inhaler run out! Yes, AGAIN! (I apparently never learn.) After trying and failing to sleep and mostly lying awake all night wheezing, I finally drove to the 24-hour Walgreen's and bought four inhalers, almost all the store had in stock, and they aren't cheap. Hopefully I won't need another one for a while now. This store didn't carry these inhalers the last time I looked there, or I might've been able to avoid this.

~ I FLEW for Thanksgiving this year, for the first time in my entire life. (Thanks a lot for moving to South Carolina, entire family.) I was at the airport a little before 5am on the day before Thanksgiving, and the place was still crowded! Luckily, all my flights and connecting drives went smoothly, and the holiday was mostly a good time. It was nice finally getting to see my mom's new place and Aunt Connie and Uncle John's house. I got to see Athena and her kids (and who knows when I'll ever see them again?), and Lydia has finally started talking a little!

Plus a new pair of shoes after the sole popped out on my old ones, working the fundraising gala for the animal shelter, a ton of yard work raking and mulching all the leaves, and some cold-weather work on the house (finally had a loose vent sealed and a loose piece of siding replaced). I had to work all day yesterday (Saturday), and I didn't even mind too much because I spent way too much money in November, and I still need to go to the damn dentist!!! But that will probably get put off until 2023.

I'm not going anywhere or doing anything for Christmas, but I will still have to exchange gifts with my roommate, and I'm already not looking forward to that.

tovah, whining, asthmatic woes, travel, thanksgiving
