I threw up at work on Friday morning. In the trash can next to my computer, because there was no way I was going to make it to the bathroom. None of my coworkers happened to be close by at the time, but it was still so gross and embarrassing, and I still don't know what happened. I woke up, got ready for work, drove there, and got started on shipping feeling fine, but halfway through our morning meeting, it felt like something hit me. I did feel a little better after I threw up, but I still didn't think I would last the day, so I cleaned out my trashcan and went home.
The cold weather warmed up a tiny bit this afternoon, which was good because A and I had to install some new signs out at a shopping center. I was worried I would start wheezing, but it really wasn't too bad, especially while we were in the sun. The shopping center has a lot of high-end stores, so when we got back to work, B said jokingly, "Did they check the balance of your bank account before they let you on the property?" Me: "No, they just said, 'Oh, she's a Jew, she's got plenty of money.'" Then the room fell silent, and I turned out to see Boss Man (who's also Jewish) looking stern. Boss Man: "Rebecca, do you think just because you're Jewish, you can say things like that?" Um... yes?
I also crocheted a kippah for Boss-Man this week. It was a really simple blue-and-black design that took no time at all. I've been meaning to crochet one for Al, my friend at temple who's just the nicest guy, but I haven't found a kippah design that says "Al" to me yet.
The temple hosted an interfaith service in honor of MLK Day on Sunday. It sounded like a pretty cool idea -- one of many things that would never happen in my hometown -- so I went. And it was a pretty cool idea, but the execution got pretty corny, especially when we all had to stand up, join hands, and sing "We Shall Overcome" together. It was cool hearing talks from clergy of other faiths. It's been a long time since Catholic high school, and I'd forgotten how different Christian prayer is.
