In which Rebecca says nothing that she hasn't said before!

I really hate the mall. I hate the smell of it and the culture of consumerism that it perpetuates. I hate that so many of the stores sell nothing but overpriced, decorative, useless crap (especially anything involving angels or glitter, or anything that comes pre-personalized with a horrible tryndee name like Bryleigh). I hate the crowds of young hipsters who shop there, and I definitely don't understand the point or appeal of trying on clothes that you can't afford.

Okay, forgive Rebecca for ranting. I know I should stop complaining, and I know it's my own fault for always agreeing to take Briana to the mall. (I just got back from going there with her. Can you tell?)

I feel like the colors of my world are changing, like roots that I've put down in this town are being ripped up. Right now, in another window, I'm writing a letter to my and Briana's caseworker at Big Brothers Big Sisters. I feel bad that I won't giving one year of commitment, but I honestly do think that we would both be happier if we were matched with different people. If not for our upcoming move, I would probably stick it out, in spite of how poorly I feel it's been going. I'm also writing a farewell letter to my congregation that will go in our temple's monthly newsletter for May. I want everyone there to know how much being a part of that family has meant to me. Tomorrow, Sara and I are leaving for a big city kinda far away to do some apartment-scouting for a few days. (I haven't even finished unpacking from Houston yet!) Once we move there, it will be too far for me to make a day-trip back here. I think that is what scares me the most.

I guess change is always hard. And this is going to be a BIG change. NCIS, distract me! Tonight's episode wasn't the best ever, but for the most part, I enjoyed it. It was so nice to learn more about McGee's family!

Notes for episode 10x19 Squall
Introducing Navy Admiral John McGee (Tim's father) and featuring NCIS Agent Stan Burley (last seen in Playing with Fire)

Writer: Bill Nuss

- Yuck at Tony fawning all over the hot weather-girl on ZNN. It's so much the sort of oozy thing that his dad would do.

+ Ziva is wearing the same black-and-white shirt that she wore in You Better Wath Out. Didn't it look so good on her?

+ “Maybe he met someone last night.” Ziva and McGee are always so sweet to each other. I love that about them.

+ How Tony said “overslept” and Ziva said “doctor visit” at the same time when Gibbs asked where McGee was. Gibbs: “Uh-huh.” So funny!!!

- Ziva hitting Tony's arm on their way out of the bullpen. Thankfully, the writers aren't having her do this as much anymore, but I still hate it when she does. Is it supposed to be funny? Or endearing? Because it's neither. >:(

+ Oh my gosh, McGee is a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters! It was almost startling for me to see a scene of him and Adam, since I watched this episode right after spending time with my own "little sister," Briana. It also made me feel kinda guilty, because he's obviously much better at it than I am. Good for McGee!

+ It was nice to see Burley again, but it felt kinda weird that Ziva spotted him and brought him over, rather than Tony or Gibbs.

- Ducky talking about how some skin types showed needle marks easier than others. I have such a huge phobia of needles that I almost had to change the channel! I love you, Ducky, but enough already!

- Wow, McGee's dad is such a JERK! I expected that, because we all know this show has a thing for horrible fathers (see Eli and DiNozzo Sr.) and dead mothers (which is why it was such a nice surprise to find out that McGee's mom is still alive). Even though I expected him to be a jerk, I still really ached for McGee during that scene between him, his dad, and Gibbs on the ship. Thank goodness that McGee still has his grandma, his sister, and of course, his NCIS family to be there for him.

+ Loved the scene in Vance's office. Vance admitted that Admiral McGee was a jackass and horrible father and told Gibbs to tell McGee that he (Gibbs) had his back. Gibbs said that he didn't need to tell McGee that, because he already knew. Loved that!!

+ Very good moment when Burley offered Ziva his condolences about Eli's death and asked if the CIA had caught Bodnar yet (they haven't).

- I definitely didn't like Ziva acting interested in Burley, though.

- Gibbs staring at Palmer for so long after he made that “eye of newt” joke in autopsy. I mean, what was with that shot? Why did it go on for so long?

+ I don't ship Tiva, but I loved Tony acting all jealous concerned about Ziva flirting with Burley and saying that Ziva was in a vulnerable place right now. Especially when Gibbs walked in right in the middle of his line! Priceless!

- Such a sad moment with Abby encouraging McGee to stand up to his dad, and McGee replying that no one can talk to the Admiral, they can only listen.

+ Loved McGee (and Tony) giving Adam tips on how to deal with bullies. See what great dads they would be?

+ “Your fingers, McGee, why are they not typing?” Hahaha!

- Gibbs's disapproval of McGee wanting to quit Big Brothers Big Sisters. Oh geez, I don't need to hear this right now as I'm writing my and Briana's case-worker. It made me feel so darn guilty! Damn you, NCIS! But I have to remind myself that things never work out in real life the way they do on TV.

+ McGee walking in-sync with his father - such a nice little touch.

+ Loved Tony trying to counsel McGee on his relationship with the Admiral. Such good interaction between both of them.

+ The reaction from the other basketball players when Tony told “LeBron” he needed a hookshot!

+ Loved Tony, Ziva, and Abby worrying about McGee and his dad in the bullpen. So sweet.

+ Damn, that was one intense interrogation scene between Gibbs and the Admiral! I loved the restraint shown in cutting to McGee only once, at the end, rather than constantly. It made it all the more powerful when we saw that he was crying. Sean Murray was amazing in that scene.

+ Vance let Tony sit in his chair! How awesome was that?

+ Such a beautiful, touching scene (without being sappy) between McGee and the Admiral at the end. Just like Gibbs and Jackson, and Tony and Sr., they're making progress, and that gave me warm fuzzies.
