My landlords came by the apartment today to install a new window unit. Our old one stopped working a few weeks ago. It didn't matter at first because it was so cool outside, but it warmed up fast last week, and Sara and I were sweating like pigs! (It made me thankful that Sable didn't have to suffer the heat.) Who knew that installing a window unit would take two people almost 6 hours?! They arrived at ten and didn't leave until almost four! Ugh! But at least we have air-conditioning again. It's so nice being cooler inside than outside.
This evening Sara and I went to the movies and saw The Hunger Games. It wasn't as good as the book (movies never are), but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I will probably post more about that later. When we got home, I watched tonight's new NCIS.
Episode 9x19 The Good Son
(Featuring Vance's brother-in-law)
Writers: Nicole Mirante-Matthews (
A Desperate Man) & Scott Williams (
Housekeeping)
- Well, we've had so many family members end up as suspect on this show (like
McGee's grandma and
Tony's dad, and that's just this season) that it was really only a matter of time before we had one of Vance's people as a suspect.
- The bullpen scene annoyed the crap out of me for several reasons, but the biggest one was probably how nosy Ziva and McGee were towards Tony. Tony and Ziva have always snooped on each other, but this overdid it. I am SO tired of Ziva being mean to Tony. The writers have scaled it back a lot this season, which I'm grateful for, but it still rears its ugly head sometimes. >:(
+ The "crabs" Ziva-ism worked for me, and I was glad because the Ziva-isms are getting less and less believable now that she's lived in America for so long. I loved the looks on Tony and Gibbs's faces when they didn't want to explain to her about the other kind of crabs.
- Gibbs interrogating Thomas had to be the most boring interrogation scene in a long time. And I don't think I'm just saying that because Vance-centric episodes aren't my thing. The writing there was pretty bad.
- What was with that khaki coat on Tony when he and Ziva were talking to the bartender? It's so different from his usual wardrobe and very unflattering. Ugh.
- Did you notice how bored Tony seemed when he was interrogating Bryan? I felt the same way.
- Abby babbling on and on when Vance came down to her lab.
- So Thomas's parents died young and he was mostly raised by his adult sister (Jackie Vance). That seems to happen an awful lot with suspects on this show.
- I know some fans love getting a glimpse of Vance's family, but I'm not one of them. The scenes at the Vance residence didn't interest me at all. And geez, how big of bitch did Jackie come off as?
+ Gibbs telling Tony that he depended on him and his detective skills -- this had to be my favorite moment in the whole episode. I loved Tony's little smile there.
+ The huge framed portrait of Vance and his family that was hanging in their living room. It was so cheesy that I almost burst out laughing when I saw it! And what a great Cosby sweater Vance was wearing in it!
+ I liked how at the end, when Jackie said, "No, please," you thought she was going to ask them not to arrest Thomas. But then she just asked them not to arrest him in the house! Ha!
