Rebecca wants Cote de Pablo for her birthday!

Hooray, there was a great new episode of NCIS on my birthday eve! It was like an early birthday present.

Notes on episode 8x03 Short Fuse
Featuring FBI Agent TC Fornell, last seen in Moonlighting

Writers: George Schenck & Frank Cardea (Obsession).

- The shot of Dempsey's legs as she was pulling out her gun in the opening scene felt really cheap and below the show. I'm just saying, if we're going to see any woman's legs on NCIS, I want to see Cote de Pablo's!

- The way Tony acted during his photoshoot rubbed me the wrong way, especially the poses he struck. Who was he trying to look like? John Wayne?

+ I liked the way Ziva smiled at Gibbs when he gave that killer glare to the PR guy.

+ Ziva seemed to really admire Dempsey when she was questioning her.

+ Tony and Ziva arguing over whether Dempsey spent the night alone. They can be so... anti each other sometimes.

+ McGee suggesting Tony's mugshot for the pamphlet cover made me chuckle.

+ Jimmy scratching Ducky's nose for him! Those two are funny together. It was especially nice after Jimmy got jealous of Ducky spending time with the intern in Worst Nightmare last week.

+ Gibbs moving the water bottle from the trash can to the recycling bin! A great little moment.

+ The scene with Gibbs and McGee. It was brief, but those two don't get good scenes together often. Gibbs even called him by his first name!

+ The scene with Gibbs and Fornell having dinner together was as slashy as they come. And hilarious! I suspect this episode might go down as "the one that shipped Gibbs/Fornell." Gornell? Fibbs?

+ Gibbs and Fornell questioning Tolin's wife together. "Were either of you married?" Yeah, and divorced - from the same woman!

- Tony asking Dempsey why she was attracted to Tolin struck me as really out-of-place and uncalled-for.

+ Gibbs head-smacking the cardboard cut-out of Tony. I like it when he's creative with his head-smacks.

+ And just when I thought this episode couldn't get any slashier, Fornell cooks pasta for Gibbs!

+ Ziva trying to cheer Tony up after he didn't make the pamphlet -- awww!

- I know Abby hasn't quite been herself since the event's of Season 7's finale arc, but her behavior in this episode rubbed me the wrong way. She was a bit mean and snippy to the rest of the team.

+ Overall, a good, solid, stand-alone episode, although I found it a tad bit slow-paced for Schenck & Cardea (one of my favorite writing teams).
