One last story before we say goodbye to 2015. Another WIP down! The long-awaited, or perhaps long-forgotten, conclusion to a little noel_of_spike story!

Summary: Spike isn’t getting what he really wants out of his secret “relationship” with Buffy, though things could be worse. Just his luck, D’Hoffryn has decided to celebrate Gurnenthar's Ascendance on the Hellmouth after a romantic disappointment of his own.

A cuckoo in the Christmas tree...
For those of you who'd like to know why it took so long...
I blame anaross.
Not that it's her fault. But while I was writing this I had just begun helping to put her stories up on AO3 and I came across one I hadn't read before, The Choice. As usual, it's a great story, but it pretty much made the same point I was hoping to go for with this Christmas ditty, only pointier. It's hard for me to work up any enthusiasm for treading over the same ground as my betters, so I had to psych myself up to finish this, with just one chapter to go. Hopefully, it's different enough. *fingers crossed*
The holidays have been lovely, if busy. I am looking forward to a long weekend without many obligations, even of the fic variety. Maybe I'll catch up on some entertainment. Maybe I'll take a walk among the trees or drag myself to a museum. Anything could happen!
