Thanks, sweetie!

I'm totally with you that not all kids need to or should go to college. It's been my litany for a lot of years that there are lots of roads to success and we do a disservice to a lot of people by expecting the exact same thing of everybody. It's a little worse here in California as they won't even let kids graduate from high school if they can't show a certain level of high math skills. It's ridiculous to tell kids that they are worthless if they can't do algebra. Algebra is great, but it's not exactly a necessary life skill. So the drop out rates soar. Don't even get me started…

But MY kid should of course go to college. Ahem. She definitely has the intellect. What she doesn't have is a willingness to suffer fools. She gets it from her father's side. It'll all work out eventually. She may decide to go later, once she's got a bit more perspective on things, or she may find a different way to achieve her goals. Which will hopefully include a bit more than "hanging out". Since she's working and covering her expenses, I won't squawk too much. I do let her know that we'll help out financially if she does go to school, though. A little incentive can't hurt, right?
