I'm at the "Once More With Comics" Panel

AKA: The continuation of the Whedonverses in comics panel.

Tom Lenk asked if Andrew's sexuality has been addressed in the comics yet. Scott Allie said that they weren't sure how to approach it because they didn't want to introduce a new character just to be Andrew's boyfriend. Oh. Okay.

"I choose Spike," said Tom.

Allie's answer bugs me. Tom Lenk is as a god. <3.

Heh. Well, perhaps a demi-god. Like Pan. Allie cannot help but be clueless, it seems. Last year, at the awesome "Gay Characters in Buffy" panel, he promised that we would be getting a new gay male character (but not just to be Andrew's boyfriend) and...where is he? My gaydar is as good an anybody's but I've got nothing. Allie's pants are on fire.

I love Tom so much. ♥

I met him several years ago at the one and only actor event I ever went to. He (and Danny Strong) were so very sweet to the fans.

He reminds me of my (step) son, like, a LOT. When I met Tom, I was having to hold myself back from setting them up. Such a nice boy. They'd probably be horrible for each other because they are too similar, but a mother can dream...

Well, it's not like they introduced a new character just to be Willow's girlfriend.

Oh wait.

My thought exactly.

Yeah. I could see Jane Espenson mentally rolling her eyes, even though she's too polite to actually do so.

Heh! Though, I hope they don't actually do it, because Andrew gets on my nerves (and on Spike's).

Do post more tidbits if you hear anything interesting.

Andrew gets on my nerves too (Especially in S9) but Tom is a sweetheart and, of course, I approve his choice! ;)

Well, Andrew amuses me (see above re: stepson) but even if he chooses Spike, Spike is very unlikely to choose him. And Spike should have some say at this point in his love life, IMO.

However, anybody who can pwn Allie has my vote!

Heh! Mine too. There's supposed to be a two-issue arc written by Jane E and Drew Greenberg coming up which features some OCs, and this new gay male character may be one of them. If so, though, I suspect he won't stick around after the arc, so Dark Horse can tick that box but not commit themselves too much.

Andrew's an annoying git, but his actor has good taste. *g*

I like 'em both, though Tom comes out on top. He and Jane Espenson are thick as thieves at these things, which is a good indicator of his worthiness. *nods* Not that he's worthy of Spike, but a boy can dream.
