So, long time no post., why have I been away from my lovelies? Well, it’s because a lot of crazy stuff has been going down. And the holidays of course. I was beginning to entertain that edgy feeling of complaining… like the ljer who constantly asks if anyone is reading their posts… Feeling lonely in cyberspace is almost as crushing as being alone in the universe. Knowing that all those people are on it all day and your piddly lj or pixeltees shop never get visited is a sign, that yes, Andrea, you are spending way too much time on the internet. So, two things happened. I kind of stopped checking my lj. And then, miraculously, my managers took away internet privileges from any site not “PSI Call Center” (my company). Not because of anything I had done, but because technically, I am part of a program (although I’m the receptionist) that has a non-PSI url block. And there was tons of spam coming in; it wouldn’t stop. I am so glad I don’t have to fool with all of that crap. And I rather like not moping about all day to see if anyone read my post every couple hours. Then each one seems more special.
But yeah, I have been way busy too. Two weekends ago I went to Ohio for Christmas where I saw my cousins Sarah, Elizabeth, and Matthew. They were so cute. And my older cousin Jenny who married a chubby ex-Jew atheist millionare out in California and had a karaoke reception (which her family did not really approve of, being a fairly traditional Korean group of Christians). Her quote, “I didn’t like Harold at first, but living out in San Francisco I didn’t have anyone to date because everyone was gay…..” That was hilarious... And meeting my future Aunt Cecilia (in Korean her name is Yong-Som) who is getting married to my Step-Dad’s youngest brother David in April should be a fun wedding. They are even doing a traditional Korean part where she has three painted dots on her face and I think she has to carry David piggyback style. And bow to every single member of David’s family. And in Korean tradition, since she is younger than her two unmarried sisters, they would originally not be “allowed” to come to the wedding. I listened in amazement to all the patriarchal commandments coming out of her mouth. I really like Cecilia, but I could never think that way. I don’t think she quite agrees with it either. She is inviting her sisters and is asking to bow to her parents as well. The whole weekend was awesome. I ate a lot of gimchee and we had ging-bop on Sunday, which is Korean sushi. I love some sushi. I got cool presents from all my parents too- a sewing machine, scarves, and jewelry…. And money that I bought a new picture phone with. I love it. I finally feel like a member of normal society. Natalie continues to mock my outbursts of enthusiasm when it comes to my phone. I think it’s normal to get excited about getting your first text message or leaving your first voicemail. Hee hee hee….
This whole week I worked and saved up money for New Year’s. It was awesome. Luke had a party at his Dad’s house. It has an indoor pool, a Jacuzzi, a big screen tv, a baby grand, and an upper deck above with a pool table and thick shag carpet. He was so nice and paid for the room and the hot tub to be heated. Ted, Dave, Andy, Chris, Tim, and Felix actually decorated (and painted the railing black- i swear that place nevah looked so good). And they got catered food and had jungle juice and champagne etc... I had so much fun. I think it was my best New Year's evah dahleengs....Natalie came and took pictures of me acting goofy. There was drama afoot, a naked drunk boy who passed out 20 mintues after we got there, and a girl who drank too much. Pretty much a normal party. And Steve from Cali was there which was a great highlight to my evening. Jesse came too, which turned out to be fantastic because we got to talk about a lot of stuff that has been going on. Things are oh so cool in that department. :)
Anywho, I think I’ll save more intangible existential ramblings for another post. Just wondering about and catching up...
