Writings of Randomness...

Since I haven't written in a while, I'm just going to write whatever comes to mind...which could be a scary thought...

First, the people who direct cars at the airport have NO common sense. I went to go pick up my aunt from the airport today. Well, they wouldn't let you park and and wait for your passenger to come. So I circled the airport and when I came back a different guy directed me and the car in front of me to a different place (like the area closest to the doors) and we pulled into the space where you wait for your passenger. Apparently this is not what the guy wanted us to do so he directed the car in front of me out and so i followed. Well, the car in front of me stopped, so I stopped. The guy kept waving me on and i was like...where do you want me to go? So as i move slowly forward he walks with my car. Then there's this other guy who comes walking across the crosswalk so I stop so I don't run him over (like any other person would do). Well this guard keeps waving me on and it's like what do you want me to do...hit him? Anyway, that was just completely irritating.

I bought the Aladdin DVD. I am so excited. I love Disney movies (unlike Stratton...) I watch them if i'm tired and need a pick-me-up or have had a rough day. I'm always in a good mood by the end. Aladdin is my second favorite Disney movie (Beauty and the Beast being my first...if you were wondering) So I watched it today and then played with the special features...I sang along to all the song...oh if only we had servailence at my house...it was HYSTERICAL with all the motions and such...too bad no one else saw! So I found this thing where fun facts pop up while you watch the move...so what did i do? I watched it again!!! I'm going to share some of these fun facts and if this will ruin the movie for you I advise you not to read them.

1) The speaking voice (not the voice who is singing "Arabian Nights") is Robin Williams. No Allison, I did not know that...

2) The voice of the lead guard who tries to capture Aladdin is also the voice of Pooh Bear and Tigger.

3) The voice of Aladdin is Steve from Full House (DJ's boyfriend)

4) The color scheme was designed to enhance the good vs. evil theme in the movie. Jafar is red and black (evil) and Jasmine and Genie are blueish colors. I haven't exactly figured out what Aladdin's color scheme means (guess i'll have to watch it again) Then of course they used color for mood and such...

5) Each character has a basic shape. The Sultan's basic shape is an egg and if you notice in the palace, the columns are egg shaped and the elephant throne is elephant shaped. When Jafar takes over, the room changes to the long "t" shape that signifies Jafar. Jasmine is an hour glass shape (and she is trapped in an hour glass in the end of the movie) and Aladdin is two triangles (again...i don't know how this is incorporated into the movie)

6) Then there are just some odds and end things...go rent the DVD...or better yet, come over to my house and we'll have a movie night!!

Moving on...Chrissy's piano teacher wanted her to sing and play the piano at her church in Conroe so Chrissy asked me to go because she didn't know what she had gotten herself into and figured i was the best person to bring along. In the car she tell me her piano teacher is Mormon and she starts explaining some of their belifs. Apparently they believe that if they are good on earth they get their own universe when they die, you can be baptized Mormon after you die (so you can get your own universe when you are dead). Well, we get to the temple (i think it was a temple) and Chrissy says I don't know what side to park on. I was like...the side with the doors? So she tells me the temple is divided into two halfs that look identicle and she used this anaology if St. Simon and Jude and St. Anthony's were connected...So we get out of the car and Chrissy says, oh, just to let you know we are now Sister Chrissy and Sister Lauren. Well, i didn't know that was a mormon tradition so I said "Since we're the only Catholic people here we're now nuns? Did I forget to bring my habit?" And Chrissy starts rolling. So we walk in and this lady says "You must be Chrissy >points to Chrissy< and you must be Lauren >points to me< So Chrissy and I look at eachother and we're like "are we wearing nametags?" So other ladies (it was only ladies) walk up and say hi...really REALLY friendly. So this lady takes us to the OTHER side of the temple (as i pointed out to chrissy...the St. Anthony's side) So we're sitting there listening and it was actually interesting to me cause it was about how music helps people and MUSIC THERAPIST...HELLO...Then the lady says "so why should we want to pursue the good things and why does the Savior want us to fill our lives with the good things?" and i thought to myself...to get your own universe...I had to bite my tongue. Then there was this raffle and the lady drew names and said it's one of our visitors. Chrissy and I look at eachother and are thinking, "I hope it's YOU" Well, it was Chrissy. The lady says "I get to choose your prize and i think you need a picture of the Savior" and I knew exactly what Chrissy was thinking (why do i need a picture of the Savior...I don't even know who your Savior is) Again, I had to bite my tongue. So, later in the program we find out the Savior is Jesus Christ...which Catholics believe in Him too!! Oh but it was fun. Chrissy sang and played beautifully as always. And then we started joking about a tory we made up to a piece I played for Solo and Ensemble that she accompanyed me on. It was GREAT. We had an interesting time. It was fun to be exposed to that culture. We decided that we can be Catholics while we're living and then be baptized Mormon after we die so then we can have our own universe (not really...)

My last thing...we had an abstinence talk on Wednesday. In all honesty I thought it was going to be one of those "Sex is bad so if you do it use birth control" talks. It wasn't at all. I thought it was great. He said that sex is a gift that you give to your partner and if you really love a person sex shouldn't be an issue. Then he talked about his wife. She was one of the popular girls and she was looking for love in men that she didn't get from her dad and so she ahd sex a dew times and then went to this abstinence talk (not given by the same guy) So the next night when the guys asked her to "go out" she said no and wrote a leter to her future husband about how she was waiting for him. Every time she told those guys no she would write a letter to her future husband and soon the stack got really thick. This girl turned into our speakers wife. It was a cool story. Here are some other fun things he said:

1) One of the things my wife and I did to make sure our marrage lasted was we did not live together before we got married. You know, some couples will live together before to make sure they are "compatable." Trust me, if you're a man and she's a woman, you're not compatable.

2) A thing about how he was watching the Animal Channel and how a bear had an itchy butt and scratched it against a tree and it looked like booty dancing to him...it was funnier when he said it...

3) Condoms DO NOT protect a person from the NUMBER 1 STD in America...again...CONDOMS ARE INEFFECTIVE because if you touch an infected person flesh to flesh from the top of the torso to mid-thighs you could get infected (and what's worse is you might not even know you have it)

4) Guys, next time you look at pron, think to yourself that's someone's daughter.

5) Next time you ask a girl to give you a blow job, think about your future wife being in that same situation. Wouldn't it make you mad if someone was pressuring your future wife into going him a blowjob?

He told LOTS of funny stories and made jokes. What I liked the most was that he wasn't saying "sex is bad" because, in all honesty, sex itself isn't bad. It's not some naughty thing and I hate how it is played out to be that way. He was a really good speaker. He has come to my church a few times too (I missed him last year, but i think I've seen him before)

Okay, I'm done ranting...have a good night everyone and I expect comments!!
