Birthday ponderances.

I feel like celebrating my birthday this year. Trouble is, I'm not entirely certain how to best do so - that it's St Patricks day tends to put me off going out, on the basis that I dislike crowds of drunken idiots at the best of times... And even the weekend before it will tend to still be filled with drunken idiocy.

Combined with this fact are that people keep asking me what I want for my birthday, but I can never think of anything interesting very much to ask for, as for once in my life I am relatively well-set(touch wood), other than simply having a lack of finances in general.

Heck, the thing I miss most from overseas is cinnamon Altoids, and flavorful bottles of hot sauce (is that the right name for the stuff?)1. The things I want locally the most are a restocked supply of Guiness2, and, well, good company - something I've let myself get lax in having, as of recent, with my gaming groups no longer operating, swords being no longer medically feasable to do, and my innate (OCD) tendancy to avoid visiting people without invitation, lest they be bothered by it.

I think what this all boils down to is I think I am in the mood for a gathering, or something? But anything further than that is kind of fuzzy and uncertain, from nature to scheduling to location... probably because I suck at that kind of 'organisation' and 'scheduling' type thing on general principles.

So, uh. Any suggestions?

1: Make no mistake, I adore chilis and chili sauces - however, I favor more flavor, less heat, than most - I can easily crank up the heat of a chili with local pap, but getting really decent, full-of-flavor sauces tends to either be beyond my stores, or beyond my price range. I've never really worked out why. (Not just strictly hot sauces, either, for what it's worth - I find Strange and Exotic bottles of sauce fascinating to try. It's just that most such things tend to be, well, hot and spicy.)
2: For some strange and indefinable reason, I tend to end up leaving it till my birthday for the yearly Hoarding of such things...3
3: I did mention I was born on St Patricks day, didn't I?
