Poem a Day for April - How's it going?

Apr 28, 2014 12:07

Are you all enjoying my poem-a-day insanity?  I hope so! I've not been keeping up with it as well as in past years.  I suspect getting these 'catch up' posts isn't as fun as an actual poem a day. Sorry about that!

26: Water

Your familiar triangular catch
Encloses every placebo
And likewise every match

You envelop every dish
Enclose the buoyant hippo
One might find you fiendish

Our inescapable wraith
You carry every torpedo
And drown every faith.

27: Monster

I see in his
Gleaming eye and hooked teeth
His protruding horns and muscled flesh
The strength and anger the
Sinuous tail seeking
To bury its barb
I see inside
The summoning circle lines
The carefully placed candles
I gather up the chains
That encircle demonic wrists
And I know
That he is not the monster.

28: Settled

From clear liquid
Snow drifts down
Precipitate magic
Behind white marks
That read "30 M L"
So bold and clean
The teacher talks
But your eyes track
The gentle nestle
Of white specks
Together on the bottom
Participate in magic
The beauty of
Appearance but
The parts were there
Locked in liquid to
Join together and
Precipitate out.
