Dem Guns!

Summer before last, I hired Carrie Gregory as a personal trainer. Best money ever spent! She whipped me into shape with bootcamps on Saturdays and 'homework' workouts throughout the week. I admit - like most people, I tended to only do two thirds of the homework, but even so, there were results. Like... I started noticing I had biceps.

I love my biceps. I keep looking for excuses to make this pose:

Niiiize, eh? And I haven't done curls in months!

But they are not quite where I want them. Yet. I can still get beefier. For instance, it bothers me that you can't tell how lovely my biceps are when my arms are down flat at my side. (See the picture from my birthday party in the previous post.) Silly vanity, I know! I /did/ have one friend comment on that photo with "Look at those biceps!" and that did make me very, very happy.

Okay, okay, so I have actual, non-vanity-related fitness goals. Like the ability to push our nose tackle back, do 100 push-ups in one sitting, or just stay in a 'good football position' for an extended period without my knees aching. Lots of squats and push-ups happening in my free time. But today I gave in to the ultimate vanity moment - the "exercise progress photo". See this? This is why I got out of bed at 11pm to do my damn push-ups.
