By the time you're spending that much, you'd be cheaper to buy two sets of everything and wear one while the other gets shipped to China, hand-washed at minimum wage, and shipped back. Like Scottish scampi.

For those of you that count food miles, now you can count clothes miles too.

Hrm. Reminds me of that guy who advertises suits in Private Eye.

The idea is you go to one of his "open days" he has in London hotels and get yourself measured up. Then he emails your details to his factory in China, and you return to another open day a few weeks later and try on the suit which has since been made and posted to the UK.

I've heard it's usually cheaper to ship something from China to the UK than it is to move it from the shipping port to it's distribution warehouse..

Far better for the environment just to import a worker and get them to hand-wash it in Scotland - only one flight. I hear there's organisations that send you a cheap worker in this way with the minimum of fuss and paperwork - google "chinese adoption agencies".
