10 Gifts that Touched My Heart

Dec 14, 2013 16:28

It is not easy being Santa, not easy coming up with a gift that will be memorable, valued and needed. You really have to step in someone else's shoes and change your way of thinking, it takes a lot of learning, quite a bit of self-sacrifice and constant urge for perfection. But being Santa is also the most rewarding thing in the world. And it has nothing to do with the cost of your gift in money equivalent, just time and thought and some energy.
I thought, I would share with you some of the best gifts I've ever got and hopefully it would give you some idea of the gifts for your loved ones.

1. Guitar - got it from my husband, who was not a husband at that time yet, for my birthday, I think 16th..., always wanted to play guitar, was borrowing it from friends, not even sure how he guessed.

2. Yes, thermo coffee mug. It was my first winter in Canada, brrrr and first job at Timmy's, which wasn't actually as bad as the winter. Got it from my Jamaican friends, they even printed my name on little stickers and attached it to both sides and the lid.

3. Daisy blanket. Got it on my wedding day, from my 2 best friends, one is still in Ukraine and one is in Italy, haven't seen them for about 12 years, but still have the blanket.

4. Persian kitten.  Got him from my husband on St. Valentine's Day. Of course, we named him Valentine. He was the size of an apple, fitting on a palm of a hand when I got him. Valentine was extremely gorgeous cat with extremely horrible personality. Have you ever heard this: "My Persian cat just created Persian Gulf on my Persian Rug" - this is about Valentine.  Long gone now, but still remembered.

5. High Heel Cake Server. From my friend Joanne, who knows about my obsession with kitchen, cakes and baking.

6. White gold cross and chain from my Mom and Sis for my 30th birthday

7. French Cook Book. From my son on his return from France last year. Now I got to work on my French a bit, so that I don't mess up all the family meals.

8. Cushion. From my son again, who made it all by himself, and yes, this is the first letter of my name there.

9. Penguin slippers. From my Sis, last Christmas, love them!

10. Cocker Spaniel Tishka. And this one was not for me, but rather for the kids, or the whole family. We found Tishka under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning 4 years ago. I still don't know how did he get there....

Hope this helps and just try to remember, people give gifts not because they have money, but because they have heart! Happy Giving!
