Back to School - What Do You Need To Know

Aug 14, 2013 15:29

This time of the year is fast approaching and just a few weeks left before our little ones will have to grab their backpacks and head back to school.

If you are moving to Toronto or just a new community in Toronto and need to register your children for the upcoming school year, the below information might be helpful:

For the Toronto District School Board only

1. If family lives in Toronto - children are welcome to attend Toronto District School Board School.

2. If you live outside Toronto District, but one or both parents work within the District - please, contact your closest TDSB school, your kids might still be eligible to attend

3. Registration can be done ANY time during the school year

4. To register your children, you will need the following:

- Valid Proof of Age - might be a birth certificate or passport
- Proof of home address - utility bill, rent/lease/purchase agreement
- Proof of custody whenever applicable
- You will also need to provide the record of immunization
- For new immigrants - immigration document or proof of status
Where there is no official document to verify the required information, the TDSB accepts written signed letters of confirmation of the student's information from lawyers, notary publics, medical doctors, or other persons of recognized standing in the Toronto community.
