Do Realtors Help Information and Service Beggers?
According to Wikipedia: Begging or panhandling is the practice of imploring others to grant a favor, often a gift of money, with little or no expectation of reciprocation. Beggars may be found in public places such as transport routes, urban parks, and near busy markets. Besides money, they may also ask for food, drink, cigarettes or other small items.

According to a study in the journal of the Canadian Medical Association, "(70%) [of beggars] stated that they would prefer a minimum-wage job, typically citing a desire for a 'steady income' or 'getting off the street.' However, many felt they could not handle conventional jobs because of mental illness, physical disability or lack of skills
My question here is whether you help the beggers? Do you give them money? And when you do, do you mumble something like, why don't you just get a job?
My Grandma used to say: if someone begs - help him and it is not of your business what he does with the money (food, things, etc.) Being a begger is not easy. Most people can't stretch out their hand and beg, it is just easier for them to go and get a job. So, if someone begs - help him.
Just recently I realized that Realtors are exposed to the beggers probably more then any other profession. They are exposed to the worst kind of beggers - information and services beggers - beggers who want your time, your money, your expertise without having to commit, for free. And the worst part, this evil kind of beggers don't even know they are beggers. They believe they are so cool, looking at houses with three different agents and then buying a home with a forth one.They believe they are so cool by calling you in the middle of the night and getting all kinds of information and consuming hours of your time and then just disappearing in a thin air.
I know many fellow Realtors are getting angry with this special kind of beggers, they are trying to get them under a contract or just refuse to provide services. Please, don't! It is not easy to be a begger. If you don't help them - they will starve to death, because they don't know how to work, how to pay for their bread, clothes, information and services. Help them, and once you discover who they truly are - don't complain, learn to wear your Helper's Hat proudly. Just move on and let karma deal with them.
