OK, my absolute bottom line on this, outside of politics and just focusing on the original question. Watching movies is a coping method, and I mean that not only in the sense of national tragedies - heck, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory helps me cope with my feelings of alienation; why do you think I like it so much? - and I just don't think it's right to say that someone shouldn't have that coping method available to them because you don't understand why it works for them.
