Alright, so I found out how I did on my EMT State exams. I passed the written (THANK GOD). 83/100. Wow that was a lot of weight on my chest. One less thing to worry about. :o)
Sat morning I had my EMT practicals. Which consists of 5 exams: spinal immobilization, random trauma skill, cpr/resusitation, vital signs, and medical assessment. We, my partner and I, definately passes the 1st 2 and the vital signs. There was a mess up on the cpr/resus I was really stupid and forgot the bsi/scene safety bit. Wow, what a fuck up. And then I missed a couple other things. But the mess up was that the lady but other ppl's scores on our sheet. And when she changed it, she still left that I have to redo BVM. But I'm not sure about it. All the other ones she took off she completely scribbled over the x'ed boxes. But not BVM. But I wasn't even the team leader for that one, and the little I did do, I didn't mess up on. So I don't see why I have to redo it. But I know for sure that I have to epi-pen. I forgot that the black end covers the needle, for some reason I thought that you pushed it in. So I basically theoretically ended up sticking myself. Plus I hardly did any of the medical bit in order. So I'm acutally glad that I have to redo it, b/c it gives mme the chance to prove to myself that I can do it. Properly.
Only one person in my class passed. (my partner). That does mean that none of us studied enough, but that also points a finger at my teacher. And he doesn't seem to understand that. I'll probly/definately pass during the retest. But if I didn't, I'd take this class in Howard Co, so that there wouldn't even be a slight chance that I'd get my current teacher.
One of the really annoying bits is that we have to be re-trained before we can be re-tested. But the training center we had class in is booked solid for the whole next 2 weeks. So, unless he can schedule something at Gamber's fh, we're not going to be able to retest for probly at least another 3 weeks or so.
After the practical some of the ppl in my class and I went to BWB's (Bbq Wings and Beer)in Mt. Airy. (Thats the bar I tend to go to.) And the one bartender actually refused my id, and knew my drink. Pretty cool. And later on I headed over to jerms, and had some drinks with him before heading over his grad school friends' place for a kegger. I actually got to meet about half of his SPA group and put some faces with the names. And I was impressed, because I didn't hear politics mentioned once. :o) It was nice, I got drunk talking to ppl not from work or the fh. :o)
Yesterday morning, I woke up drunk (I only got about 3hrs of sleep, or so)and headed over to the fh for our fundraiser breakfast. I think we only broke about 400 ppl. This was mostly because they didn't have the sign up about the breakfast until at least after 6:30pm sat. At least that's my opinion about it. I was at the fh from about..7:30am-1:30pm/2pm. And then I left and came back here, and just chilled. Oh, and wayne says that I can still ride, just not as a fully, functioning emt. I'll just still need to be supervised. But the supervision would probly have needed to occurr anyways. Plus, we always have a part-time paramedic on staff, so supervision is not that hard to come by.
Today I got the day off because all the supervisors were supposed to have had more meetings. But ryan got the day off also for "snow reasons". Yeah right, its supposed to get up to 40 degrees out. Plus snow is supposed to occurr tonight and into tomorrow. The highest I've overheard is 5", but I very much doubt that. I'm thinking of applying for a part-time job, but i don't have set hours. So I dunno if it would actually work.
emt,
