Thanks for reviewing :-)

I provided a vocab link to alihotsy at the end of both chapters.

My fav. fics are the subtle ones, which you have to re-read and think about (e.g. Kate Chopin’s stories, where every single detail counts.) If a character notices a plant from a window, there's some purpose.

A fanon example is Maya's constant reference to canon!book "Men Who Love Dragons Too Much" in UL. I didn't get the reference until I read it the 2nd time. Maya also often tells the story from what is _not_ being said as opposed to what _is_ being said. I love her H/D UST. I'm not writing for people who rush their reading (although I’m guilty of the same when reading most fanfics).

>>>>>perhaps you can include some dialogue to inform readers that's who he is.

Dialogue...as in Harry referring to him as Snape or...?

>>>>>rather than sensing his antipathy towards Harry I am only seeing his hatred of James.

When it comes down to it, I love LP far more than HP-so I follow LP plot for the most part. In this fanfic, Snape never knows Harry at all. Although Snape notices that Harry has James' face and Lily's eyes, he still thinks that Harry is a tea-induced hallucination.
:-P

>>>>>I know you're trying for the exceptionally lean style of TLP, but...you are expecting a great deal of your readers. […] it means this fic will never stand on its own

Yes. Another intent of mine is to get readers to read LP...
When I set out to write this fanfic, I know this story won't ever be hugely popular because:

1. It is AU (I put the AU!Fic warning before the "potential gay subtext," because most HP fans avoid AUs but love slash *g*)

2. Since it's AU, Harry is quite OoC (because this Harry did not go through childhood abuse etc. that canon!Harry does. This Harry lives alone in his planet, for the most part.)

3. It's a crossover, and the only good crossover I can think of is "Tale of the Shining Prince." Even then, the writer did not label it as a crossover. I only realized recently that it’s based on "Hikaru Genji no Monogatari," a famous classical Japanese Lit.
Also, the readers that will most appreciate this fanfic are the ones who love _both_ LP and HP. That's not a huge segment of the HP fandom...

4. I love reading subtlety, so I also write subtlety. My readers and betas in toestablishties usually catch my subtle references. (They sometimes even read far more into what I wrote.) When nobody gets a certain subtle reference, I try to make it more obvious...or discard the reference altogether.

5. I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to writing that I've currently stopped plugging this fanfic because I'm still not quite satisfied with chapter 2 *sigh*

>>>>>Dialogue...Snape wondering internally why the Headmaster sent the Hogwarts Potions instructor to be the liaison to Beauxbatons.

Thanks! It didn't occur to me. *tinker more*

Yeah, the alihotsy thing...I wonder where I can insert it. The first time I mentioned alihotsy maybe? *ponder*

>>>>>You've rated this G and declared it AU; "slash" is not my first thought when I see those terms.

Good. *sigh of relief* I've been so conflicted re: plugging this fanfic in gen comm.s, ship comm.s, slash comm.s...IMO it's a genfic, although you can read H-D ship into it. Or, erm, "pre-slash"?

>>>>>I also don't objectify Draco in the way that you describe.

Good to hear. You do know of the existence of bottom_draco etc., right? I believe there's bottom_harry too. But I think slashers more readily adopt the idea of Draco as a "dom" because he acts like a stereotypical gay (the whining, the hair care). On the other hand, Harry's "the straightest gay guy ever."

>>>>>I've been more in the HG/SS crowd, which has its own terrible issues.

*g* I can imagine. Teacher/student just screams "Authority abuse!" to me, even when the student has come of age. I have young male teachers in high school, and my schoolmates are forever falling in love with them :-P

>>>>>And...of course you may quote me. :-)

Thanks again!
