Teams 1, 2, 3: From the Hook in the Egalgina

Jul 19, 2006 17:03

You find yourselves in a strange, impossible dome. Enormous, with red ribbed peeling walls and a harsh red light streaming down from a hole at the very top of the thing. Your voices echo, though your footsteps do not, and there is the loud and distracting sound of a heartbeat coming from what seems to be all sides of you. On the wall ahead of ( Read more... )

He hates that he has to do this. That he can't just send them home, that he has to ask more of them...but it can't be helped. And he'd better get it done soon, while they've still got time. Hellboy's still missing, but he was with them the last time they did this- he'll at least know what's going on.

Henry squeezes Liz's hand, then steps away and raises his voice. "Okay, I think we'd better get organized here. I still have to do the separation ritual, and it looks like we've got to do something else as well." He points up to the painted words. "This probably means all the ghosts will be after us. There are fifteen, unless one of you got one pinned on the way." He looks around and sees only blank stares. "All right. Fifteen. Some are stronger than others. Keep your eyes out for swords with triangles on the hilt and weird writing on them. You can stab that through the ghosts and...they won't be able to go anywhere."

He takes a deep breath and continues. "I'll be reading most of the ritual. It's going to come out sounding weird, so expect that. There's four parts. The fire's first, and...I guess all three of you will be doing that." He nods at his family, not looking too happy with this decision, but not having anything other suggestions. "Then the water, then the blood, and then the sign. It's a symbol I write on the ground. Once we get done with that...we should be able to kill him." I hope.

"I'd say to wait here until we get it done if you're hurt, but..." He looks around the room. Almost everyone looks hurt. "I don't think this place will be safe for long." He looks at the ground for the moment, then back up to them. "We do this and we'll get out." He looks fairly sure about that one. "Uh...is everyone going to be okay for this? Is there anything we can do to help...?"

"We're here until it's over, Henry. We'll just have to do what we can," Derek looks at the others, "We should start looking for those knives before things start up. Once they're into the ritual, they're open, and if there's no one to watch their backs, they're screwed. And so are the rest of us."

Roger nods, looking unhappy. Hellboy and Kate... are they still alive? He hadn't had the chance to ask anyone on their team what had become of them.

"You know what's going on here better than the rest of us. We won't let you down."

"Do we have a way out? I don't think we should be trying to..." Her mind blanks on the word. Starts with a d, starts with a d.... hell with it. "...to take the world down without a way out."

"Then we need to add that to the list of things to look for. And once we find those knives, some of us need to come back here immediately, and others need to keep looking for the door."

He shakes his head. "Leon said that Hellboy found it. I don't know if it's a key or an actual way out, but...as soon as he shows up, we should be set, I think?" Again, he hopes. But things are starting to come together.

"We're going out in groups again, right? Are we going to wait for the ones who havn't arrived yet? They could be hurt, I.. I don't know." He looks down at the floor, pensive.

"Okay, then we need to find those swords and get our asses back here while you guys get the ritual going."

Derek looks at the rest of the group.

"Since we don't know who'll find those swords first, I think the best course of action is to get back here once someone finds one of them. Unless you run into the ghosts out there, we might be better off getting them to come to us. We might be better off moving in pairs, too. That way if one of us gets nailed, the other might be able to help."

"Moving in pairs, that sounds good." She was already definitely planning on doing so herself, and certainly endorses everyone else doing so, if possible. "Why're we bringing the swords back here, though?"

"Because if we don't m,anage to use them out there," he waves in the direction they'll be going, "Then chances are, they'll be headed towards Liz and Henry and them. They'll have to access from the same place we would, right? And at least here, we have some chance of knowing where everything is."

Can't get much more straight-forward than a domed room.

Leon rubbed his forehead a bit. The last thing he wanted to do was stay here a moment longer than he had to. But, truth be told, leaving Walter with this much power was just asking for trouble in the future.

Leon pulled out his guns and started checking his ammo. "How long will the ritual take?" He likely wouldn't have any part of the ritual itself, but he'd do everything he can to keep trouble off their backs.

"It depends on how long it takes to get through it with Walter. It was about..." Forever. "Maybe ten, fifteen minutes last time? This one seems to jump around a lot more, so we might not be able to get it all done at once..."

It's nice to compartmentalize this, like it's a procedure people do when they're infested by the 'otherworld' or something. That way, he doesn't have to think about how damned lucky he was to survive the first one. The anxiety's showing on his face anyway, unfortunately.

Leon can see. He cocks his guns and holsters them. "The last mile is always the hardest, Henry. But you'll get through it.

"Grab all the people you need for the ritual, keep them close, and get started. Everyone else will have to run interference." Leon paused in thinking of ways to keep Walter distracted.

"...you wouldn't happened to have seen any kind of mutant dog with a long tongue around here, have you?"

He nods. He's done it before- not with so many people depending on him, but...Liz was there. He just has to do it again. It's almost a mantra in his head now.

"Sounds like a plan. And...uh, there's lots of those in this world." He gives Leon a lopsided almost-smile. "But I haven't seen any right here, no..."

"Shit... Well, hey, when this is over, stop by the beach house some time. I can tell you a funny..." if morbid "...story about those things over a beer. Y'know, while our significant others get blitzed off bourborn and exchange far too many embarrassing details about us."

Leon is surprisingly loose right now. But then again, his emotions have been all over the place thanks to the general effect of Silent Hill. Besides, he knows what needs to be now, they just have to do it. Simple as that, really. With that thought in his head, he took a deep breath and began to focus again.

"Time to do this."
