I’ve been sorted into the Slytherin house many a time by the sorting hat and all kinds of quizzes online. I DO belong in Slytherin because I’m ambitious. *nods* I have great ideas, BIG ideas, and I want to achieve them. Ambition is not always a bad thing. Most members of the house of Slytherin are misunderstood. Harry himself would have been a Slytherin but people had told him that Slytherin had never failed to turn out a supporter of the Dark Lord… But they also failed to tell him that there were others from other houses in Hogwarts that had supported the dark lord as well. Peter Pettigrew was not a Slytherin… There are others that I’m sure were not in Slytherin as well.
But I digress… I must get back to the main point of this entry. I have decided to challenge the fanfiction queen in my soon-to-be family to a duel of sorts, though she doesn’t know it yet. And since I can’t look her up on google to read some of her fanfictions… well this is a kinda blind one-sided duel. *nods*
But I have been lacking the motivation to finish my fanfiction projects, and it seems I only have until the end of July to finish my Harry Potter fanfiction. I don’t want to post anything online after the final book has been released, in the event that I am right about what will happen, I don’t want people to think I just copied off the last book. Plus, I have my own theories about how it may or may not end. *nods* This little challenge for myself is giving me the motivation I need to finish plotting out my HP fanfiction, even though it’s centered around Draco Malfoy and not Potter.
The young Malfoy is a mysterious character that hasn’t had much in the way of proper development except to show the world that he’s evil. Well, in the last book, HBP, he shows his true colors that he can’t be as evil as we all thought he was. He has a conscience and he has doubts about things like murder. We know this through his encounter with Dumbledore. Given his situation with his father, his mother, and the ‘family business’… he didn’t have much of a choice but to support the dark lord.
Throughout the story, the young Malfoy has shown that he doesn’t have much independent expression of his feelings. I wonder sometimes if he even thinks about what he’s spewing from his lips, or if it just has become second nature through all of the ‘friends’ he has and his father.
The things I like about Draco are that he’s fairly malleable in the realm of fanfiction because not many restrictions have been placed on his character through extensive development. People that are highly restrictive in their character are for instance Hermione, and Harry. I don’t care how well you try to write it or how much you try to explain it away, without serious and convincing plot lines you will never make me believe that Harry and Hermione will ever date.
Hermione is very solid as a character goes, we all know that she won’t do anything along the lines of sleeping with a lot of guys. Sorry boys, but that brainy girl is not the librarian-hentai wet dream of yours. It’s obvious that she is one of the main reasons that Harry succeeds all the time, without her brains Harry wouldn’t be nearly as strong as he is. She has the knowledge to go along with all the courage and brawn of her cohorts.
If she was of that ilk, she would make a damn fine dark witch. She has a thirst for knowledge which if put in the wrong hands can be very bad. But, she is not of that dark ilk, and as readers we all know it. Though in odd plot lines she could be strewed into a very influential dark witch, in Canon she is not power hungry enough to do such things.
Her thirst for knowledge was expressed in the book, The Prisoner of Azkaban, when she was given the time turner. She used it to attend more classes than there was physically time for, though she was given the turner with ulterior motives of course. Somehow they always know when something like that will be required.
But anyway, I should get back to what I was doing. LATER!!
