Going to the Chapel by RealmofRed

Author’s note: All the vows written here were gathered from various sites on the internet and pieced together----I did not write them. Hats off to whoever did----they are beautiful!

The invitation read as follows:

Friends and loved ones
Won’t you please join us
As we celebrate our love
And life together
Exchanging rings and hearts
On Friday, the tenth of June
At four o’clock in the afternoon
Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip
1301 Las Vegas Boulevard

Gregory Sanders and Nicholas Stokes

Reception to follow.

Gil re-read the invitation and smiled. He knew Nick and Greg had been planning this for months, and now it was finally here. They had asked Gil if he could work something out so the other CSI’s could attend. Now Gil was sitting in a pew with Catherine, Lindsay and Al Robbins. Behind them were Sara, Warrick, Jacqui, Archie and Bobby. A few friends of Greg and Nick’s were seated on the other side.

An officiant stepped from behind a curtain to stand near a white arch decorated with flowers. He spoke to the small crowd. “Welcome to the Little White Wedding Chapel. We are pleased you could be here. Gregory, Nicholas, you may join me now.

Nick and Greg appeared from opposites sides of the chapel, dressed in black tuxedos. They walked up to the arch, standing in front of the officiant.

The gentleman smiled. “Friends and loved ones, we are bearing witness today to the joining of lives and hearts of Gregory and Nicholas. We are glad that you could share in the joy and love shared by these two. They have chosen to read special vows to each other, then exchange rings. Gregory, please face Nicholas.”

Greg turned to Nick, his eyes alive with love. He hesitated a moment before he spoke. “Nick, having found you, I have decided that there is no moment in my life more significant than this one. The moment I offer myself and all that I will become to you. My choice is made, my mind is clear and my heart is strong. This love means more to me than anything else in life. There is no obstacle I would not overcome to reach you. I give myself to our union. May our love forever keep us strong. When you need me, I will be there, and when your strength fails, may mine always be there for you. I promise to be your best friend----to laugh, cry, sing and dance with you. I promise to love you forever.”

The officiant smiled and turned to Nick. “Nicholas, your turn.”

Nick cleared his throat. His eyes were shiny and wet. “Greg”, he said, his voice cracking with emotion, “you are the most beautiful gift in my life and it is the most humbling honor to love you. With you, love means freedom. Freedom to love you without judgment and freedom to be yours while maintaining the very soul of me. May my heart be your shelter and my arms be your refuge. You are my best friend and everlasting companion. From the first moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were the one. So beautiful then and even more beautiful now. I promise to love you forever.”

A tear slipped down Nick’s cheek as he finished his vows to Greg. Greg’s eyes were wet too, as were most of the eyes in the chapel. Gil glanced at Catherine, and she was flat out crying. Gil had to admit to himself that his throat was tight. The officiant spoke again.

“The rings please.” Greg and Nick each took a white gold band from their pockets. “Greg, put the ring on Nick’s finger.” As Greg slipped the band on Nick’s left hand and held it tight, he spoke in a slight waver. “Nick, I place this ring on your finger as a symbol of my constant faith, abiding love and belief that I was chosen to live my life with you. I offer myself to you as companion, lover and friend. I cherish all that you are. As I wake to you in the morning sun, as I come home to you by moonlight, I vow you will always be my heart, my soul, my everything.”

Now Nick was really crying, but they were tears of joy. He slipped Greg’s ring on his finger and he repeated the same words back to Greg. As he finished, he whispered, “I love you Greg.”

The officiant smiled. “Gregory and Nicholas, as you work to make each other become a stronger individual, you can only become stronger together. You are always two, but will always be one. You have made a commitment to share your love, your lives and your future.” He paused. “Friends and loved ones, I present to you Gregory Sanders and Nicholas Stokes.”

Nick and Greg turned around to face everyone. Tearful smiles shone across their faces and they embraced and kissed softly. They stepped away from the archway to hug their friends, and after many congratulatory hugs and kisses, the group went outside to where a small reception was set up. A table was set up with champagne and cake. Greg and Nick each grabbed a glass of champagne.

“Greg and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing this day with us. Your love and support means more than you will ever know.” Nick smiled at Greg. Greg grinned back.” This is the most awesome day of my life, and having all of you here to witness is the second best thing I have, besides Nick.” Greg leaned over to kiss Nick. “ And now, we have a song we would like to dance to.”

They stood in a clear area on the grass, under a canopy of trees. Someone cued the music, and Greg and Nick embraced. Greg laid his head on Nick’s shoulder as the sounds of Elvis drifted along the air.

Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can’t help falling in love with you.
Shall I stay---would it be a sin
If I can’t help falling in love with you.

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes, some things are meant to be.

Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can’t help falling in love with you.

Finis.
