On Monday, Lacey's mom subbed for my myth/sci-fi class. That was surprising. I miss Lacey.
I had my last violin lesson today. It's a relief, but it is also very sad. I'll miss Mrs. Hager. She gave me a book of violin duets as a "gift" -- we played some stuff out of it today and I told her I liked the book. She had an extra, so she gave it to me. That was very nice of her.
Cheri Kay was supposed to call me today, and I'm a little freaked out because she didn't. I hope that means good news.
So. Latest movies that I've seen. Last night, I wanted to go to bed, but Christine called me at about 9:00 and wanted to hang out. She is super stressed right now about college choices and school and stuff and she needed to just chill for a while. So we rented Spanglish. It wasn't bad. I like Adam Sandler. That is one long apllication essay, though. I tell you what.
Tonight I rented The Terminal and THX 1138. I've said it once and I will say it a thousand more times: I adore Tom Hanks. Oh goodness. Love him love him love him. Very good movie. I can't believe I didn't see it before now.
And THX 1138 -- George Lucas' first feature-length movie. Interesting. You can see the influence that movie had on Star Wars. But what bites is Lucas' stupid perfectionism. He is so certain that new technologies automatically mean better movies, but no. He should have left well enough alone with THX instead of going back and adding those ridiculous computer graphics. Let me tell you, though. The girls in that movie had guts. To go on screen bald, with almost no make-up, and, in Maggie McOmie's case, naked ... Man alive. That is bold. Anyway. I enoyed the movie and I really like the fact that Lucas allows you to fill in the rest of the story for yourself. It doesn't have a strict interpretation. He has his views on the meaning, but he lets the viewer have their ideas too.
Carol King always puts me in a good mood. Put in Tapestry and I can't help but sing really loud and stupid happy.
