happy new year pull your ear

Dec 29, 2008 03:17

its a brand new year, but the same old person. i don't really believe in new year resolutions, much less believing in going the distance with them. probably will forget/forgo them by the third or fourth day. old habits die hard, but such old habits are those that mould his character into who he is. i always thought, if you are changing your habits, aren't you depriving yourself of the very essence of your own life? then you're not you anymore, isn't it. (and then it starts to get confusing here, and points that contradict my current pov starts to form in my head, so i suppose i'll cut it here, until i decide which road to take.)

anyway just for fun,

Lose Weight and Get In Better Physical Shape
if you're lazy, you're lazy. and laziness is most probably the hardest habit to kick, because its something you can't restrict yourself. if you're addicted to the computer, your parents can lock it up. but can they lock up the fact that you just don't feel like doing what you think needs to be done? i doubt so.

Stick to a Budget
i really have to do this, but back to my beliefs again, money is not everything, so long as you have enough of it. some people just can't get enough, but for me, i guess 700 per month is probably more than enough at this point of time. another thing, when you go out, just spend on what you like, with some exercise of the mind as well, because, why bother to go out if you don't spend?

Debt Reduction

Enjoy More Quality Time with Family & Friends
i guess i should, but its so hard to choose between the two right? at least for me, i tend to reconsider my choice all the time till the last minute, before i decide, "alright maybe i'll go home for dinner" or "heck, i don't want to go home tonight". often it all comes down to a flip of a coin, unless of course, there's a significant event going on. don't get me wrong, its not like i don't take care of my parents or what, just that too much time with one side can be detrimental.

Find My Soul Mate
hahaha touchy issue here. do you find your soul mate, or does your soul mate find you, or do you just meet at the least expected place, and realise that you're meant for each other just by the touch of the hand (sorry i watched sleepless in seattle last night). i guess i'd very much go for being star-crossed. its so much sweeter that way.

Quit Smoking

Find a Better Job
in terms of cash? of satisfaction? satisfaction and happiness has always been the number one priority of my life. don't do things that you know you won't be happy with, even though it comes with the money, sadness or regret (i say this because in some cases its inevitable. it only depends on how fast you are at picking yourself up. in my case, i tend to regain normalcy quickly, because sadness don't deserve to be dwelled upon.) money can be saved, but happiness just comes. and since we only live one life, i'd rather a life of ups and downs, than one straight line with lots of cash.

>Learn Something New

Volunteer and Help Others

Get Organized
if you're messy, you're messy. and messy = lazy to a certain extent. but mess is good in my pov (influenced by A Perfect Mess). the idea of ordered chaos always intrigues me, and i can never picture myself living with an empty desk. the only thing that needs to be neat are my babies.

of course, i've made my own resolutions, which is roughly the same every year except for some minor twitches, because they are based on my beliefs, my life goals, defining who I am clearer.

here's to a satisfying, quality 2009.
