Jason stood in the middle of the hobby shop with a small basket at his feet. A funny place to shop for supplies, but he was low on funds and just needed a few things. The simple modeling plastic and clay would work for this project, just something to make a mold. When he made the first helmet, it had taken only a few hours. But he had better equipment then and better materials. All he had now was a few bucks, and a hobby shop.

He grabbed the brightest red model plastic he could, and dropped it into the basket at his feet. Then moved to the clay and grabbed some of that too. He’d need a melting pot, but the ones in the hobby shop were way too expensive for him, and he didn’t want to start out as a thief. So he took the supplies he had, and moved towards the counter.

The brown haired boy behind the counter gave him a bright smile as he scanned the items. A bit of small talk, and Jason was paying the kid. Jason moved to leave with his purchases when the building started to shake. The kid who had rung him out seemed to freeze and stare at him, but Jason was more interested in the man crashing into the bay window of the store.

Jason jumped out of the way, grabbing the kid when he did. The kid didn’t look scared, and Jason guessed that he was used to this by now. Jason looked over the counter towards the window, and watched the man in yellow and brown dust himself off. Jason’s hand went to the gun hidden in his jacket, but his hand was stopped by the kid.

Jason glanced down and was shocked to find the boy’s eyes glowing bright blue. He was also muttering something that Jason couldn’t make out. When he looked back up, the man who had crashed through the window was gone. Jason jerked his arm out of the boy’s grip and stood up.

“What the hell did you just do?” Jason’s voice was even, but the kid looked like he had just been yelled at. The boy’s eyes lost their glow, and looked back up at Jason. The deep brown of the boy’s eyes looked so familiar, and Jason’s heart sped up when he realized where he’d seen them before: Wanda, the woman from the woods. This boy had Wanda’s eyes.

“I… I’m sorry! I just didn’t want him to find us. He knows my scent, and well… secret identities and stuff.” Jason watched the kid play with a piece of his shirt, and sighed. Secret identities, sure why not. His world had teen heroes, he’d been one, so why wouldn’t this place.

Jason shook his head, grabbed his bag and left. Leaving the boy behind to explain to his boss what had happened to the window. Jason had better things to do anyways.
