And you're absolutely right, we want Zack to have a say in his own education while still trying to make the decisions that we feel are in his best interest. We don't mind paying the tuition at all. Our house will be paid off by the time Z starts high school so it won't even be an extra expense, it will just be a wash as far as our budget is concerned. And even if it were extra, I can't think of anything I'd rather invest in than Z's future. Borgia is college-prep and 92% of graduates are offered college scholarships so I know it would be the best place for him.
And honestly, the religious fervor varies from location to location in the States. There are progressive areas and then there are evangelical backwaters like my little neck of the woods. The majority of homeschoolers in my area are evangelical Christians so not only are we swimming against the mainstream, we don't even fit in with the other swimmers. :/
