This day was turning out much more eventful that Methos had ever imagined it might. He'd reluctantly agreed to meet with another researcher working for the Watchers in order to assist on a portion of their research. He wasn't about to argue due to the higher ups dissatisfaction with his lack of progress on the Methos chronicle

Methos hands in his pockets, looked down at a set of notes on a side table, "So, they tell me you're working on researching an Immortal that met have met Methos?"
Reply
"Yes, it seems our Immortals have crossed paths before, interesting, given neither of them lost their heads." She looked towards him, trying to gauge his expression to see his take on that.
"It's not impossible, but it is uncommon. Especially when they're as old as this." She smiled to herself, quietly proud of the fact she had this case. "She's the Eve to your Adam."

Who could they be talking about? Methos racked his brain as he continued to read on.
"Perhaps uncommon only because there aren't many meetings between very old Immortals. Being as old as they are, perhaps they have better things to do that fight." he smiled lightly, "Based on what I've read, Methos does his best to avoid a fight rather than seek it out. Such is the reason that he ever became so old. It may be the same with this woman?"

"750 AD, Tibet - 86 BC, Romania - 1812 AD, England - 1324 AD, Scotland," she reeled off quicker and quicker as she slapped each report into his arms. "1505, 1984, 1893, 1486, 561, 1991."
"All of those times, someone ended up dead."
She closed her file with a flourish, as though that made her point.
"But not him."

But then on the list he saw a name, a presumed alias, Riva.
River.
Methos smiled, but was able to contain his laughter.
"Perhaps they were friends?" he offered her.

Methos nodded, moving to sit, "Then lets cross-reference your records with mine to see if they were in the same place more than just his particular instance. There may just be something here."
Although Methos planned to keep those records of those places he'd ran into River out of what he'd provide to Kate. What? He could be an ass sometimes.

But the fact that Kate was the Watcher of nothing more than a well-travelled human being?
Well, that might remain secret for a little while longer.

After providing Kate with as unhelpful information as he could manage, Methos left for the day.
He'd have to tell River of this the next time he saw her, perhaps they'd have a good laugh over it.
For now he was going to Le Blues bar for a drink.

The Le Blues bar had become one of the popular points for his mismatched band of friends, and every so often, he would see familiar faces pass through, never ageing a day, while he soldiered on.
When the door sounded and Joe caught sign of that familiar long coat, he knew immediately who it was. With a wry smile, he already knew the order before Methos even reached the bar, and by the time he'd taken a seat on his usual stool, there was a glass in front of him.
"You look like you needed it," he said, chuckling to himself at his own joke.

After swallowing, he spoke, "I always need it, Joe. But today more than most, certainly."

At that moment, another customer conveniently stepped up to the bar to place an order, and Joe turned away chuckling, aware that Methos' glare was most likely burning a hole into him.

His glare was broken quickly though as he felt the buzz of another Immortal. He looked around, wanting to be sure it was friend and not foe.
When he spotted MacLeod walking in from the back, he relaxed, going back to sipping his beer, giving him a nod.
"Methos." Duncan nodded back, sliding into a seat beside him. Methos grimaced a bit, glancing around at all the people around and then turning his irritated glare on the Highlander for saying his name so openly.
It hadn't been the first time, but come on, he had an identity he was trying to maintain here!
