MY WEDDING
Hey there all. I've been enjoying watching this community for quite a while, so I figured I'd finally post some of my own pictures.
I absolutely love non-traditional and "alternative" weddings/ceremonies, particularly country/barn weddings, so that's sort of what mine was. My partner and I married back in July of 2004 at
Frontenac State Park (right on the Mississippi) in Minnesota, we also had some events before and after the wedding in Lake City, MN. Our reception was at
Hobgoblin Music just outside of Red Wing, MN. I'm from the Twin Cities and he's from the East Coast, but we both love to visit that area of southern MN, and it worked really well for our wedding weekend. We got married in the morning (morning weddings rock) and had a brunch reception (mimosas rock). Our "theme" if you can call it that, was vaguely old-timey/country.
For the curious: my dress is from Watters & Watters (technically a bridesmaid's dress, ivory lace on top and celadon satin underneath - two seperate pieces, which is awesome, because I've worn the green part a number of times since!); the super-awesome bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages are from
Fleurissima; and my partner made the tiara for me as a wedding present! For the super-curious:
our wedding website with full text of the ceremony.
(These photos are a mix of those taken by our professional photog and others taken by family and friends.)
The ceremony site
Shoes (which I've worn to a number of other summer weddings since) and flowers
Us reenacting the Lincoln/Douglas debates...actually, telling our guests that we want to get the ceremony started (those darn unruly guests, having too much fun talking to each other and not paying attention to the task at hand)!
Cool shot of the attendents and us coming down the "aisle"
We came up with this neat water ritual thing to do as part of the ceremony, there's water from the Mississippi in the pitcher

Married
I love this one, it's from out at the reception site, where there's an old brick silo next to the barn
Dancing
Mom and grandma eating cake
Our professional photog is an excellent climber (and was also my neighbor growing up), and couldn't stop herself from getting into the rafters to get good shots of the dancing
After the reception: friends sacked out at the house we rented in Lake City. Morning wedding + brunch reception = afternoon naps for everyone!
If you haven't gotten enough,

OTHER WEDDINGS
My partner and I are photographers, and although we don't shoot weddings very often (seriously, people have to cajole us, they can be a headache, but we're willing to do fun ones and be secondary photogs) I thought I'd post some of my favorite shots.

One final note: I'm loving the pictures of parents'/grandparents' weddings, and if I ever get a chance to scan my parents' 1975 wedding photos I'll definitely post some. My dad wore plaid pants. Seriously.
