Bernadette and Ellen's Wedding 8/22/08

Sep 11, 2008 12:50

Ellen (with the flower in her hair) and I (Bernadette) married August 22, 2008 at San Francisco City Hall.

Here we are leaving all the paperwork behind on the way to the rotunda, where we held the civil service.

The judge's name was Virginia that married us. We had been all smiles and laughs and nerves all day, but as soon as she started, we got all solemn like. We just had our family with us, since we were only allowed six people including photog to the ceremony.

Our photog Phil caught this really sweet moment of Ellen with her mom, aunt and sister right after the ceremony.

The families, from left: Ellen's Aunt Ellen, her sister Tricia, her mom Fran, her dad Paul, my sisters Bridget and Caitlin. You can see the resemblances, I'm sure.

Gorgeous city hall, where Marilyn Monroe married Joe Dimaggio. Good enough for us, too! Ha.

And a couple really pretty posed photos...

My hair is something fierce in this photo! And Ellen is the happiest, smiliest bride ever!

Our rings. Mine is inscribed with "I want a girl who will laugh" and Ellen's "for no one else" from Weezer's "No One Else." The first band we bonded over was Weezer.

My bouquet, which also had my something old and borrowed: my great grandmother Carrie's handkerchief.

And on the City Hall steps...

Dad surprises us with bubbles! Hahah. I was dying. And Caitlin, too.

Just El's family. She is so gorgeous.

Me and mine. I love my sisters, also known as my maids of honor!

We did it!

So... who likes to rock the party?

We like to rock the party!

That night we had a reception at Nook, a cafe at Washington and Hyde St. in San Francisco's Nob Hill district. That's what our friends turned out to!

Decorations...

I just need to reiterate how much I love my photog. This was a pretty picture.

Floral centerpieces by Mandy Scott Flowers.

Fabulous food by Nico, owner of Nook.

The cake, by Black China Bakery in Santa Cruz. All vegan, and tasty as hell. Oh yea, all food was vegan! Cake toppers were made by us. They're Ugly Dolls!

Our favors were also made by us. Ellen is a custom picture framer, and I'm a fan of vintage pulp images. At first, the guests didn't realize they were favors! Haha.

Ellen and Celeste, our third "roommate." :)

Todd and Liz came in from Berkeley. They're friends of Tricia's and they were instrumental in our move to the city. This was the first we had seen them in two years, and we're excited about the reacquaintance!

Spring and my favorite German Frieda.

Eric and Jamie, the next in line.

Michael and Te. Aw. The gay boys!

Adria and Gage.

Jason and Trisha, who made it all the way from San Jose. What's the likelihood of having two Tricias in one's repertoire of friends? Haha.

Ellen and Tolu, representing Salem College! Holla!

It's that time...

No cake on face, thanks.

Victor, myself and Mr. Cash... and the last time I held some semblance of sobriety...

Te and I mugging.

Oh snap! And when Bernadette breaks a champagne glass, it's time to reel it in.

Wow, Phil. If cake toppers symbolize the brides, what are you trying to say?

Hahah. And good night. Thanks for looking!
