Brendan & Corianne--May 17, 2008

Jul 25, 2008 22:17

Brendan and I got married a couple months ago. The photos came out great so I'm really excited to share them. A lot of things we made ourselves (invitations, programs, parts of my dress, decorations, etc) because I wanted to have certain things but didn't have the budget for it. We had a very small wedding--there were only 50 people. My family is really big & Brendan's family is from Syracuse so there's mostly my family there.

The photographer is a friend and teammate of mine with Boston Derby Dames, Margaret Hart. http://www.margarethart.com. Out engagement photos are on her website.

The flowers were from Cindi at Whole Foods in Wayland. I'd highly recommend them! Aside from being the fraction of the cost (example: my bouquet was $50) of going to a stand alone florist, she had more knowledge of different flowers I was interested in than some of the florists I'd interviewed. The maid of honor and groomswoman had white hydrangea, peacock feathers, and greenberries. My bouquet had white ranunculus, white hydrangea, wax flowers, tweedia (the aqua flowers that look like stephanotis), cerulean delphinium, thai chili peppers, and a bunch of white and green flowers/leaf things I've never seen before.

I made my veil from a consignment store brooch, some feathers and bead decorations, and millinery netting from housefabrics.com. Millinery netting is so hard to find! (larger, more detailed photo here: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2165/2669273114_4e8081b98e_b.jpg)

We had just moved in to the apt so there were just boxes and furniture all over the place.

Danielle McKenna (www.stellarstyle.com), aka: Trixie Von Toxic did my hair and make up. We were teammates on Boston Derby Dames, but she got pregnant so obvi she had to stop skating. She was 8.5 months so I was really only stressed about her being comfortable. She made my mom look SO beautiful! Everyone was like gasping and in total awe of how beautiful my mom looked. She's so busy all the time, she never has time for prettiness.

This is in Steph's apt. We had neighboring apartments in the same house and shared a porch. She was moving out of her apt as I was moving into mine. Steph says I was an "easy" bride b/c I only wanted them to wear short teal dresses, but didn't really care where they came from.

of the 29083409238049283 dresses I saw in magazines and such, this is the first one that I wanted. The dress came with a long ribbon to tie but I wanted something a teensy bit sparklier. I made the sash, and it has a big bow in the back. The dress is silk shantung but the sash is silk dupioni. The two colors looked a bit off in some lighting, oh well. I sewed the grid w/ silver thread and then glued on a couple hundred swarovski crystals. The most time consuming part was measuring and drawing on the grid before

I like the contrast in this one a lot.

When we were about 5 minutes from the Marina, I realized I'd left the garter at home. The garter was really sentimental--I made and wore it for games with my home team. Thank goodness we were really early b/c we had time to turn around and go back to the Mr. Tux we had driven by. Steph ran in and was like, "EXCUSE ME! I NEED A GARTER. RIGHT. NOW." They were all, "Wait, are you going to a wedding right now?" And she said, "There's a limo out there with a bride, right now!!" So she picked up a garter/pocket square/tie combo pack.

That morning I emailed the Dj and asked him to play "There is a light that never goes out" by the Smiths at some point at the reception b/c I always think of Brendan when I hear it. I've never told Brendan this.
While we were waiting to get out of the limo for the ceremony to start, the catering manager said there was a bit of a delay b/c of a music issue. I can't even remember was I was originally supposed to walk to, but there was some technical malfunction and the file wouldn't play. The DJ & his GF were sort of freaking out and asked Brendan to pick out a song.

When we first got out of the car, I was a bit confused, b/c the song I asked for was instrumental but I was walking to the wrong song and I thought I was coming out too early. As part of some divine, cosmic, proof that Brendan and I are totally connected, he happened to choose, "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out". Despite its sentimental value, its one of my favorite songs and I'm really happy things turned out that way.

L-R: Bridesman- Cosmo, Pastor- Don, Groom- Brendan, Best Man- Tim

Our friend Tristan who read Song of Solomon 8:6-7 ("Place me like a seal over your heart...") and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ("Love is patient... ...Love never fails">

Brendan missed the memo where you wait for the pastor to say, "And now you may kiss the bride" so after exchanging rings, he leaned in to lay one on me but I pushed him away and yelped, "BRENDANNNNN!" and everyone had a good chuckle.

The real one

Apparently I'm really excited! Our recessional was "I will" by the Beatles.

And he wasn't even drunk

Oh I like this one.

Bren has the prettiest eyes!

The first dance was to "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix, and in lieu of a mother-son/father-daughter dance, we did a family dance to "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge.

Telling a friend the garter story.

My mom and her friends tearing it up!

Some stuff from the reception.
The centerpieces were pretty, super easy, and really cheap. The vase was from Ikea ($2.50), the hydrangea stems from Whole Foods ($3), glass beads from the internet ($1).
We had a candy bar in honor of my grandparents corner store they used to have (thats my grandmother in the plum dress). Tapas looks fancy but is less expensive than a sit down meal. It also suited the venue and cocktail reception style more as we only have 50 people and didn't feel like making it too formal. The cupcakes are from Kickass Cupcakes in Davis Square in Somerville. If you're in the Boston area, this place hands down makes the best cupcakes ever.

Bouquet toss

My MOH caught the bouquet, and Brendan's best friend caught the garter.

8 milion photos later, I'm finally at the end!
