Cobra was purring as he approached the apartment complex.

Yaito was in Pride's apartment when the sudden screaming and commotion outside made her jump up and run to the window, gaping at the mess outside.

"Wh-what's going on here?!" she cried, frantically running back to her room to gather her PET, money, and whatever other belongings she absolutely needed.

"Pride!! There's something going on!!"

She ran to the door and stopped. She ran back into the living room. She ran back to the door.

"...what do I do?!" she shrieked. "Priiiiiiide!!"

A hand reached through the door and grabbed her wrist. "C'mon!" Haruka yelled, pulling Yaito toward the evacuating crowd. She had been on her way back from getting groceries. "Do you know where everyone else is?"

Yaito followed along quickly, dazed by the panic. "N-no..." she replied meekly. She hoped everyone else was already safe, but there wasn't anything she could do.

"All right," Haruka replied, holding Yaito close and trying to ignore the distant screaming. "We have to keep moving. They'll find us."

Brightman was just giddy when he found out he had orders to attack from Laserman. And so, he quickly substantiated himself in Vanishing Court, eager to hunt down their prey and finally earn back his respect.

With a flash of code, he appeared.

"IT'S SHOW TIIIIIIIIIIIME!" he screeched, his eyepieces shooting beams of light into the air.

And who should be nearby? The mother of Netto Hikari and Yaito Ayanokouji... the latter of which had been instrumental in humiliating him.

He bounded towards them, landing in front of both humans.

"Hey little girl, remember me?!"

Yaito screamed in frustration when the annoying Darkloid appeared.

"Noooo, not YOU again!!! Get out of our way, idiot!!" she snapped.

Of course she knew he wouldn't comply; she reached for her PET, clutching it tightly in one hand. With the other, she reached into her pocket and closed her fingers around a Substantiation chip, holding it there. If they were going to fight, she was ready this time.

Haruka jerked back, trying to pull Yaito with her. She couldn't do anything against a Darkloid.

"Sorry toots! And you know what? You're going to be easy pickings! Once I take you out, Enzan'll be so sad, he'll be in no condition to fight! I'll win easily!

"And all that's standing between me and being a legend is a little girl... and some OLD LADY! BRIGHT BEAM!"

And so, Brightman blasted a ray of light from his eyes, straight at the two ladies.

Yaito was set on kicking Brightman's butt this time; as it was, she didn't have a choice. There was no one else close enough who could do anything to help.

"Hurry up and get out of here!" she yelled over her shoulder at Haruka before slotting the Substantiation chip into her PET. The light ray made impact--

"Dream Aura!!"

--against the barrier that now surrounded Glyde. It harmlessly dissipated on contact.

"I'm not leaving you!" Haruka called back, crouching by Yaito. "Even if I ever wanted to, the safest place is near an experienced netbattler."

The area around them had cleared out. Haruka was not going to let Yaito out of her sight.

"Uh..." he says to Glyde. "Who the hell are you?" D:

"Yaito-sama's Navi, Glyde. I will not let you harm her! Glyde cannon!"

Glyde quickly moved away from the two humans, trying to keep Brightman as far from them as possible. He fired off several rapid shots, circling around to get behind Brightman.

Yaito silently acknowledged Haruka, too focused on having her battlechips ready to respond.

Haruka kept a careful eye on Yaito, and began to search for a weapon. Glyde mightbe able to handle the Darkloid, but she should be prepared to fight if the time came.

"BRIGHT SHIELD!" Brightman cries, summoning a barrier to block the cannon shots.

"PLUG LARIAT!" he declares next, shooting off his antennae. They spark, striking any more shots, and following Glyde's path in an effort to grab him.

Glyde dodged out of Brightman's way and fired off a few more shots. They weren't very effective, however, especially with Brightman's shield intact. Yaito quickly switched to a different strategy.

"Battle chip, Tree Bomb! Slot-in!"

A small seed materialized into Glyde's hand, and he swiftly chucked it at Brightman. Whether it landed on the shield or the ground didn't matter; it would still explode into a wood tower.

Haruka dug in the debris near by. A bent golf club. No. A chunk of concrete. Too heavy. What looked like the lid to a pot. Too light. She picked it up anyway; maybe she could throw it at someone.

Hey, was that a frying pan?
