You know, he would just have loved to see the look on Devon's face when he found out they had taken his car.
It was great to be outside, the sun, the breeze, he was simply happy. And Cerridwen was a great part of that. He was a little shitty that he couldn't drive, but that was a restriction that was too logical to ignore, so he put up with it, but the moment the car stopped, he jumped out, walked around to her side and opened her door for her. Grand gesture. "No, after you, my dear. Ladies first." Warm smile.
She slipped out of the driver's seat, smiling up at him. "Thank you." The door shut and locked. She put her hand in Michael's. "Where should we start? Your town," she reminded him.
He squeezed her hand, smiling in faint reflection of what he truly felt, and led her down the street.
He had been here many times before, the stores lined up along the street as familiar to him as the back of his hand. he briefly combed through memories of visits here, his mind stumbling on Kitt a few times, before he remembered on particularly memorable event.
She read the sign on the door. "Of course...First?" They'd have to come back with a few items for Michael, too, else Devon might wonder what they had been up to. "You know this place?"
She skimmed over the bracelets, gave a frown. "Copper and silver? They may be in vogue but I don't think she wants her skin to turn green...Necklaces. Oh?" Curious tilt of the head. "I can't imagine you wearing earrings or a chain, or not in that outfit."
He frowned at her a moment, not exactly sure what she was implying. He wasn't a fan of jewellery for himself. And certainly not earrings, not after that fiasco with Garthe. The man had looked a right idiot.
But then it clicked. "Oh. Uh, no. I bought a ring here once."
"No, it's fine. This is one of the best jewellers in town and Red deserves the best." He squeezed her hand and pushed the door open. "So what are your thoughts? Any idea what she might like?"
"Notrubies or red stones, I think...They're lovely but someone else was going to offer her those." Looked more closely at the necklaces. "Colorful--I think she'd like that."
Michael frowned briefly wondering who she was referring to.
The inside of the shop was lit with mood lighting. One other couple was perusing a range of rings in one corner, and their quiet murmurs wandered across the worn carpet. Glass cabinets lined the walls and stood on short pedestals in the centre of the room.
Jewellery caught the light and sparkled as they passed it.

He knew just the place to take her for dinner.
And the markets...
"Ever been to the Grand Central Market?"

A moment later he realised he had been here before...and remembered why.
Aw, hell, it was one of the best after all.
